Clearly wasn't a hot night for the Bobcats... offense is still figuring things out. Detroit was on fire. A lot of our guys got minutes and experience. We pushed back after being down BIG, which ain't bad. Take the L and get better.

We need to get PG solidified.

Got a chance to watch the game after work today... That second wave is killing us in the first quarter. Two games in a row. Turnovers, missed rebounds, 3 air-balls in a 2 minute period. Bad defense on in-bounds plays. Take that part out and we have a chance. I know, if a frog had wings.... I do think Coach will shorten the rotation against Michigan a bit just to make sure we look our best.

I will admit that I am pulling for Adelodun to get it together. I watched him on defense and seemed to do well when in... He had some open looks from outside so, he understands the spacing. Gotta hit shots though. Obviously, he's doing well in practice or coach wouldn't be giving him run. He would give us some size/length that we are lacking...

Our performance has not been optimal of course but, like many have said, Coach Boals is getting lots of people minutes, sometimes to the detriment of the win loss total, but it will pay dividends in the end.

Go Bobcats!

Agree on the pleas for some chill. Jeez. Not a good night but as others said, we're still trying to find our identity and suffer thru a little growing pains in the process. We just need to improve in the next 45 days and I believe we will.

I continue to believe coach needs to stagger his subs more. The complete line shift strategy is not working.

We'll have to hit a bunch of outside shots to stay competitive at Michigan, otherwise it could be ugly.

My comments are obviously based on a small sample, 3 games, but here it goes;

1) Wiznitzer has poor foot work, he's slow, he needs to stay under the basket for easy shots and rebounding.
2) Wilson is going to be double teamed all season and needs to work on finding the open team mate for open shots.
3) Clayton has shown improvement
4) Miles Brown has also shown improvement

I know it's early but this is a BAD loss. Detroit Mercy has won 2 games in the past 2 years. This is not a team we should ever lose to, regardless of the circumstances
Where are you getting that Detroit has only won two games in the past two years?
Also, these days, I wouldn't judge any team based on the past two years. Transfer rules have changed everything, and this year's Detroit team has a lot of talent via the transfer portal. I'm guessing they end up in the top 2-3 of the Horizon this year.

Pretty embarrassing.

Did we not learn anything from Belmont first half? Can't have starting five on the bench for 6 minutes when other team goes on a 26-10 run. Really feel like Boals is playing too many players in the first ten minutes of these games.

And Whiz is not ready. Have no idea how Louisville recruited him. Andy Kanzig has more offensive skill. Sorry...but #11 has been brutal.

Need Brown and IJ.
I hate to be overly critical, but I’m beginning to to wonder the same thing with Whiz. I get 6’11 guys don’t grow on trees; but I’m not seeing how he landed at Louisville.
I have two cousins who went to the 'Ville. We texted about this last night. I legitimately thought he'd come in and be able to at least contribute, but so far he looks slow and passive. Based on what I'm seeing so far, the moment Izuma is ready, his minutes probably disappear.

Detroit showed NO “Mercy”

We’ve had clunkers like this before even with the much heralded Sweet 16 squad. We definitely need a better option when Wilson needs spelled. What Boals is attempting now ain’t working and it’s just brutal. Has BRod really fallen to being about the 5th guy off the bench? Stunning to say the least.

Pending vast improvement, yea, I can see Whiz becoming a non-factor once IJ returns.

When all are healthy this is the lineup:
PG: Hunter
SG: Baker
C: Wilson
PF: Clayton
SF: AJ Brown
1st bench: Ezuma for Wilson
2nd bench: Miles for Baker
3rd bench: BRod for AJ Brown
4th bench: Elmore James for Hunter with Miles over to PG
5th bench: Adelodun for Clayton
Out of luck: Wiz, Hadaway, Sheldon (all 3 have looked the part of scared college kids but the good news is that they've each shown resilience. If you watch them, all 3 get the ball and look terrified to have it and want to get rid of it immediately).

I see this being the case as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s as soon as after Thanksgiving we see more of rotation taking shape with the latter 4 on this list seeing minimal time.

For those wondering why Boals wasn't giving Odeludon minutes earlier, I think we're seeing why tonight. While I like the energy he provides on one end of the floor, he's very limited in what he can give the Cats on the other end.

Not sure why people are so bullish on him.

Thoughts after 3 games down:

1) Michigan is going to absolutely beat us down. Unless we somehow hit 20 threes, I don't see it being closer than a 20 point loss and could see it getting as high as 40.

2) Wiz has got to go. I don't think this kid could play for any D1 school based on what I've seen so far. Complete waste of a scholarship. That may be harsh but its the reality of the situation. True head scratcher.

3) Its pretty clear the frosh aren't nearly ready for battle. I also hope we are all tampering our expectations for when AJ Brown comes back. Its obvious we have hyped up this class all off season. They are scared to make mistakes and it shows. Has Sheldon even taken a shot yet?

4) We have no leadership...yet. Still possible somebody emerges but with essentially a completely new roster, I can foresee team chemistry being a major issue moving forward.

5) I just don't see much potential for this season. I almost want to say its a rebuilding year but with how the transfer portal is used, I'm not sure there is such thing as rebuilding anymore.

Have at it....

Hadaway has done very little since taunting the Belmont student section after he drained the first shot of his collegiate career at Belmont.

Sheldon has passed up multiple 3 point attempts through three games. He can't wait to pass it off.

Wiz...no comment. That has been well documented here.

Hadaway I've seen some good defensive plays from him, although the taunting was a bit much. But man I would love to see Sheldon shoot the ball more. GWiz - oh man. Going to need a lot of work. I'm trying to remain optimistic about him developing but when IJ comes back I think he could take his place in the rotation.

I'm not as hard on Wiz on the offensive end. Each game he has had at least one creative offensive move in the post. There's a little something there. Defensively and on the glass, we need a lot more. He's at 0.075 rebounds per minute. Dwight is six times the rebounder thus far (.45 per minute). Unreal from a 6'11 wide body.

It will be interesting to see whose minutes decrease when IJ comes back. Hadaway is essentially backing up Clayton despite being more of a tall wing. IJ is a tweener for a five, even compared to Dwight. Will Wiz see more bench? Aidan? Has IJ truly earned a rotation spot?

We should not expect AJB to be this team's savior. He is still only a freshman.

I definitely see Sheldon's minutes shrinking as the season progresses. I just don't see an impact on the game with his minutes and Brown, Hunter, and Baker are generating more as lead guards.

Elmore James has shown some good stuff. I don't see a deer in headlights there.

Agreed on Wiznitzer. He is certainly raw, but he's shown some flashes of offensive vision and made some plays only a guy with his height can make. I think he's the classic undeveloped 6-11 big you give minutes to hoping to develop him further. I think 15ish minutes a game spelling DW3 and Clayton is the perfect role for him right now.

Wow, you are truly living up to your screenname. If we are giving 15ish minutes to this guy then we are in serious trouble.

His time to develop was last year with Lville. Can't waste a scholarship on a portal guy to develop.

LVille didn't really give him an opportunity to develop - 100 minutes in 17 games played in two years - barely played last year as well. Like I've said, as hard as it is, I'm trying to remain optimistic he will develop as an all around player.

Wiz seems like a really good teammate and this year, in reality, is his freshman year with Boals so I am willing to take the mulligan on him this year with hopes that he will end up a serviceable big for a 2 or 3 year period after this year.

The guy I believe more than ever needs more time is B-Rod. I don't know why he isn't playing more. His effort has been great and he's one of the few guys who looks comfortable on the court. He's driving to the basket, he's active and he's shot the 3 (while small sample size) pretty well. His attitude seems good and I just don't know why he isn't playing more. I like our guard trio of Miles, Baker and Hunter but B-Rod should be backing that group up before Sheldon or James.

James, by the way, I agree is the only freshman looking like he belongs. It's the body and the swagger. He will make mistakes by being too aggressive but I'd rather have that than looking scared.

Rod looks much more comfortable in the second unit this season, but his height - and OU's lack of shooters with it - might force him into a starting role a lot of nights.

Unsure how much longer they can experiment with this line-up of Jaylin-Baker-Brown. Even if these guys were piling in points it would be tough to sustain on defense.

Roderick should be starting until AJ can go.

I'm not sure Clayton is worth the starting spot, but he's the only other option at the 4 unfortunately. Hopefully he gets more aggressive as the season goes on, because right now - outside of Wilson, there might as well not be anyone down low. Just a tremendous lack of big man depth on this team.

The freshman class so many raved about have not made much of an impact so far. Wiz is raw but to look at his stats so far suggest he's not as bad as many suggest IMO.
