Finally! Ready for some Bobcat Basketball! Gonna be a heavy lift to get the win in Belmont but, home court advantage aside, who knows who's gonna win this one? So many new players for both sides.

Can we limit Belmont's 3pt shooting? Is Dwight going to get the ball as a point of emphasis? Who starts at the 3 for the Cats? Who is the player that will play today that Coach mentioned in the Capital post game interview? Is the flow offense with 4 out and 1 in going to help Devon Baker get lots of looks where he wants them? Is Gabe going to be a passable backup to Dwight? So many questions... Looking forward to having some answered!

With so many new pieces, this is going to be a work in progress. If there ever were a time to have the "Next play!" mentality, this is the time and situation for it. Learn from the mistakes but don't dwell on them. I'm excited to see how Coach Boals and co. "teach" them up...

Go Bobcats!!!!

Here are my questions:
1. Will Jaylin Hunter be more Preston (able to take over but a facilitator first) or Sears (scorer first, facilitator second)
2. What kind of time will Miles and B-Rod contribute to this team?
3. Is there a backup PG? Is it Miles? Is it Sheldon?
4. Adelodun seems like he's had a good pre-season, does he get PT now?
5. What kind of minutes will Hadaway give us. Once again, I feel like he can be AJ Clayton from last year.
6. Elmore James seems like the wild card to me. What is his role? What will be his minutes? He has a college-ready body and is a winner. I would hope that with AJ or Miles out he would get run.

A quick search, before my 6th graders come in to start the week, shows Belmont lost its top 5 or 6 scorers from last year. A bigger hit to their 2021-22 production than the one Ohio suffered (Sears, Carter, BVP)?

I think the early season is going to be very important for Ben Roderick. Sub-25% shooting from three cannot happen again. There are multiple younger options behind him and he needs to be better than equal. If someone has equal ability, go with the younger guy and build him up for the future.

On top of that, Belmont's best player may be Ben Sheppard who I thought was too much for Roderick last year. If Roderick's shots aren't falling and Sheppard is having his way, I'd like to see Adelodun instead. He could have a unique skill set on our roster because of what little we saw last year and the reports from the exhibition about his defensive activity. Maybe he could be a Bruce Bowen type of guy.

I think one of the guards will be the returning players tonight and not Ezuma. If that's the case, I think there is a big opportunity in front of Aidan Hadaway to get in the front court rotation, even if he is not intended to be a big. If we're not overmatched in the post, maybe we often opt for Hadaway over Wiz in the rotation and have stretches with Clayton and Hadaway on the floor together.

Not exactly. Ben Sheppard averaged 16 last year for them.

Friberg the Ivy transfer shot almost 40% last year from three.

It got down to 5. Now 5.5 again. Considering we are on the road they only think we are about 2 points less on paper. I don't know much about Belmont and it is hard put expectations on teams these days with all the transfers but that at least sounds reasonable.

Checking out the box score from the exhibition, wow we didn't shoot the three ball well at all.

Anyway, looking forward to checking out the new look Cats tonight. Excited to see the identity of this team. I believe we can win this game and are being overlooked on the Vegas line.

If Wiz only averages 1 rebound per 20 minutes, dude will be seated on the bench. Cannot be 7 foot and have one board in 20 minutes!

As excited as I am for the season to get kicked off, I'm afraid this is a bad matchup to start the year.

6.5 seems very fair.

I think we need to slow this game down and win a low scoring game or else it could get ugly.

Don't see us coming out and hitting a barrage of 3's so rebounding and defense is how I see us winning this game.

A win would be nice, but a loss won't be too alarming for me unless it's bad. Both teams have had a lot of roster turnover, so who really knows what to expect in Game 1?

What I liked about BRod vs Capital is that he stepped inside the arc when the threes weren't falling. Last season more than half his shots were threes even though they weren't going down. Against Capital he went five of six from two, oh for two from three. Looks like he might be more willing to take higher percentage shots.

I'm in the a win would be great but if it doesn't happen don't panic camp. It's the first game of a long season and the main focus should be on getting into the MAC tourney. The team may need some time to gel.

From what I've seen so far - This team has great potential to gel, I've seen the guys on campus going to dinner together often and hanging out. With more time on the court, I think we are going to have a special group.

Few early thoughts...

Whats up with AJ Brown? Is he injured?

Wiz and Hadaway were the first two off the bench. Wiz the 6th man.

Wiz had a nice move in the low post. Easy 2 for him. If he can hit that shot, he'll be more than okay.

Surprised to see Sheldon come off the bench before Elmore... redshirt season? If that's the case I bet he ends up at Cleveland State before January.

OU started out hot, Roderick, Sheldon, and Wiz came in and they have since very much cooled off with a 12-0 run from Belmont.

Up 15-6 and then Boals goes with three true freshman. Give up a 12-0 run including 4 TOs.
