There are some Sunday games around the conference, but they don't involve Ohio. Sunday games just don't fit the culture of OU.

Got to love the MAC going back to Wednesday and Saturday games - you can set your schedule by it.  Not only is Miami on Dad's weekend but Akron, the last home game of the year, is also on a Saturday.  At  least from a local fan's perspective, this is great scheduling.  Will have to miss the exhibition though - same night as Young Frankenstein in Mem Aud.
Never cared as a student, but now that my "weekend" is Wednesday/Thursday -- I'm thrilled!

Marietta was a great story last year as they had a great year. The finish against Wittenberg in the tournament was very exciting. I saw them 3 times last year and with what they have returning they should once again be a very good team in a tough conference. That being said it is a surprise that it isn't a preseason game. Being a fairly new OU fan I will confess my ignorance of the history between OU and Marietta playing each other. Still in this day and age it is a surprise they would be playing in the regular season. I once remember Dayton opening with BW but that was 33 years ago. Economics of college sports rules I guess.

You can spin it all you want. This schedule is poor. We have no business playing no-name teams from the southwest and west. I agree with another post, if you're going to travel to Portland why not have another game out there? Maybe Oregon or Oregon State? Portland is a game at our level, but not all the way out there. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's gotta be very tough to put a schedule together. Going to the CBI should not be our goal.

Anyone else notice that the Bobcats' game against St. Bonaventure isn't on the Bonnies' schedule?

Check out this article I found from 1970 in Sports Ilustrated. It speaks to our scheduling mentality back then.

Thanks for posting.  I remember reading this article when the ink was still wet on my paper copy of SI.  In those days I subscribed on and off, and when I didn't have an active subscription I'd always buy a copy on the news stand if a particular issue said anything good about OHIO.  Great read then . . . and now.

Confirmed by Arkley that this game is off for this season.

That stinks, because honestly St. Bonaventure was probably our marquee non-conf home game. Now our best non-conf home game is Robert Morris?

Yup.  Guess we have to play our way to a decent BracketBuster matchup for a better marquee game OOC now.

I just heard that we tweaked our schedule to include a game with Tulaine in NO as part of some type of classic.  Sounds sweat to me!!

Is their any chance that Ohio will host another big time game.  I remember when Kentucky played here.  Would be nice to see a home n home with Louisville

As Tim O'shea once said, "If you would like to call those schools and try to get them to play at the Convo, be my guest."

We might get Pitino to agree to it if we told him that Trent is still playing here.

Hmm . . . during his tenure we had Wisconsin, DePaul, Rhode Island, Butler and Virginia in the house.  Admittedly, Butler was not yet a "name" program and DePaul was on the decline . . . but two Big Six conference teams in the house is better than what we've done recently.

Maybe we could have stupd cow come to town.  Have a lot of stupd cow come on here and do the boasting.

And destroy the stupid cow on the court.

Always a fun activity.

How many of those did he schedule? And we're counting Rhode Island in that mix? You're stretching.

JSF:  Well, they did win their conference, and we got to see a guy named Lamar Odom play. I thought he was pretty good.

...in 1998. We're talking about O'Shea, who brought Rhode Island to Athens in 2006 when they were decidedly mediocre.

I guess Odom has been around a bit longer. He actually played some point guard that year, his only one at URI. My apology.

Too bad St. Bonaventure backed out.  They are picked to finish in the top half of the A10 this year.  TSN says fifth.

Ohio will fill its schedule opening with a road game at Northern Iowa on December 20th, with NIU making the return game in Athens next year.

Also St. Bonaventure will still play in Athens during the 2013-14 season.
