Totally agree. To me, playing "money" games on the road does nothing to build or inspire the fanbase. If you're getting pasted every game by Top 25 programs, what is that really accomplishing? If anything, you're just solidifying your program as being completely irrelevant.

I do not at all understand the "don't play top 25 teams" mentality!!!
Should we just therefore take a pass on future NCAA bids we might earn, just because we beat a handful of cupcakes/"middies" pre-Mac, then survived the Mac tourney???
If you don't want to play them early - why would you want to play them late??? Where do you think your chances of winning are better?

If you don't play UCONN (Rainbow Classic), OSU and Virginia (Pre-NIT), Syracuse(Carrier Classic), N. Carolina (at Chapel Hill), Georgetown, etc., then you can't beat them.

Speaking of some of that schedule... not making the NCAA Tournament after the 1994-1995 season might be the biggest robbery the MAC has ever seen. Look at the record and the non-conference wins.

And for all the Hunter fans out there, he always had better teams, but all too often lost to good MAC teams during the Trent era. Those losses (unfairly or not) led to a mere one NCAA bid in that time.

Should I start a bring-back Dale Bandy thread?
