Might be an early anomaly, but both teams have two players each who have shot 20 or more three pointers and who are shooting them at 27 percent or worse. Some shot selection issues perhaps?

Bader is hitting his 3 s but we should be able to hold him at bay and exploit what he gives away defensively (Lil beotch can t guard a paper sack without grabbing the jersy to help tow him thru the screen) .Lucas Perry is a force and has Big 10+1 ecperience so dont count hi out. for a big game but the Frosh is going to be hard for our Bigs to handle.

I dont look for an easy game out. This is a big test on the road with all players healthy for Oakland.

As an aside I found this link on their website very interesting considering OUr sad situation

Should an interesting matchup. Our struggles to find consistent offense have been noted (157th nationally) while our defense has really carried the day (66th). Oakland is the exact opposite. They can fill it up (24th), but they also can't stop other teams from doing the same (265th).

We're OK at holding onto the ball but just about the very best in turning opponents over. Again, Oakland is the opposite. Good at holding onto it but doesn't force many on the other end.

Rebounding is not a big a handicap as people might think. While the Grizz are pretty good at defensive rebounding, they're not as good as us on the offensive glass. We ARE good at offensive rebounding, so if we can keep creating second chance opportunities, it's a good sign.

Big problem: Oakland is an excellent FT shooting team and we sent teams to the line a lot. Considering the Grizz are not a good 3PT team, I expect to see a lot of zone.

I feel pretty good about our chances.

Good analysis...as for intangibles...how will our guys be motivated by being controlled at home by Oakland last season?  Hope the pride factor gives them an extra edge.

If I remember correctly, these guys handed our heads to us from the opening tip even though Benson was in early foul trouble. So they're still loaded even without him.

Watched Oakland beat Tennessee on TV a week or so ago.  Pretty loud environment (on campus) and fans close to the action.  Though Tenn is lacking this year (as compared to last year), still a nice win -- after a few rough losses earlier in the season (eg. Oakland suffered a couple blow-outs), Oakland seems to be getting better.  A nice road win for the Bobcats should they prevail.

May catch a break with the fans; it's final exam week, so some may already be gone and others may be studying.

Are you freeking kidding me?????

We came out of the gate hot handed and had them down lin the first 4 minutes and then got a funky line up in one of the strangest and most mis matched line ups I remember all year. ....before the hemmorraging stopped and Coach finally called a TO we were down and got run out of the gym. One of the worst coaching errors I remember seeing in recent memory. WOuld be interesting to call up the play by play and see what happened there bit I distinctly remember sitting at the west end of the gym thinking that was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen John Groce do. All you can do is hope he got the t shirt and learned the lesson.

Edit Yes sitting and recreating I remember winning the first 4 minite war then the weird substititution happend and Oakland went on a big run IIRC. WOuld probably be easier to call up the play by play. Now I got to remember who the 21-7 situation was..... maybe Buffalo.

The Summit League doesn't dilly-dally- Oakland already has two conferences games in pocket.

Borna: Your recollection is incorrect; we never led by more than 2 and at no point in the last 34 minutes. http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2010-201...

It was 6-4 when Groce pulled four of the five starters and 6-6 when he pulled the remaining starter, DJ Cooper. We had a lineup of Nick Kellogg, TJ Hall, Ricardo Johnson, Asown Sayles and Devo.  It was 13-6 when DJ came back in but it took another four minutes before we scored again and it was 22-6.

Close, they led 18-7. Of course, there was also the 18-point lead at the break. http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2010-201...

I'm thinking we, and they, are very much different teams TY vs LY, and more so than it looks on paper. I think we can squeeze this one out - if we don't let it slip outta hand in first 7-8 minutes - of either/both halves.

Is there any meaning behind the fact that there is no line on this game? Is this a reflection on Oakland? Are they not a D1 school?

No idea why there's no line. I hope you're kidding about whether Oakland is D-I.

Obviously I overstated the fact we were up against it from the opening tip. I do remember thinking at some point relatively early in the game that we were up against a very good team and it could be a long night. Obviously, I should check the play by play before I make statements in the future.

Since there is no line, I'll just guess what it would be:

According to Sagarin, it looks like the line on this game could have been "pick 'em."

It looks like Oakland has been winning by getting to the line and making their free throws at a 76% clip.  They also have a good assist/turnover ratio considering they play very up tempo.

I can understand why Coach Groce has been working on cutting back on our fouls.  With Oakland constantly pushing the issue by driving to the bucket, this will be a challenge.

While Oakland's three point % isn't great so far, they have guys who are capable of draining threes big time.

I wish ours was hooked into the scoreboard.  Having the score updated manually is a little annoying because there's usually a lag.  Also, it was really lame when they tried to manually update the time during the Arkansas State (?) game.
