The whole title of this thread just lets you know we're on a bad road...something you want to avoid at all costs....just think and do the exact opposite of the stupd cow.

Pretty impressive density to think they're gonna 28-2.

It really comes down to recruiting. They are both so close in distance and likely end up going for the same players on the recruiting trail in terms of locality.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

I can check with the previous 2 staffs and check Rivals.com and Scout but I am willig to bet there are very very few recruits that had offers from both schools. Different styles and different needs. Very few chances that fit the "git" and are geographically overlapping.

Cooper WOULD NOT start over Pitts or Kane--PERIOD!

This comment was in response to me when I was telling them that I wasn't sure who would be sitting but Cooper would most definitely start for them.  Well I was just looking at some comparative stats for Pitts vs Cooper and some pretty astounding things popped up.

Pitts is a better shooter but i wouldn't describe him as a great shooter.   But Cooper destroys him in some very important categories.

1. Steals - Cooper had more steals last year than Pitts, a senior, has had in his entire career.  Pitts had an astounding 16 steals last year and has 70 for his career.  Cooper has 184 in just over two seasons.  Head-to-head DJ leads 10-0 in steals.

2. Assists - Pitts has 396 assists in his career compared to 513 for Cooper.  Pitts has two career games with double digit assists. Cooper 15. Head-to-head Pitts has 10 assists in three games. DJ had 11 on Tuesday.

3. Rebounds - Well, we all knew this wasn't going to be close.  Pitts has 214 rebounds for his career.  His freshman year Cooper had 198. DJ has 389 five games into his junior season.

Head-to-head DJ also leads in scoring, shooting percentage and more importantly winning percentage. In short (no pun intended) this one isn't even close.

Marshall has always been a solid basketball school. Remember the Tamar Slay days? I think he went on to play with the New Jersey Nets and Charlotte Bobcats.

I guess they might fall under solid or slightly above average when considering all D1 schools, but Ohio is a better basketball school than them. Always has been, always will be.

Herd Nation is one of about  four message boards for Marshall fans and I wouldn't consider it the home of the most enlightened MU fans. Is this only message board for Ohio fans?

Not the only one but it is by far the one with the most traffic.  And I think  this is the only one I know of that is specifically Ohio sports though.

Does anyone else like the fact that we are making another team mad? If we aren't ticking anyone off, we aren't pushing boundaries. Plain and simple. Let these other conferences get mad at us for beating them, it just means that they'll be repeating our name. It follows the concept of "bad publicity is better than no publicity". Let's keep supporting OUr programs, get more air time, more recruiting, and keep this trend going.

The Terd just needs to realize that, like it or not, they are a "mid-major" school.

Bingo. This is the root of the problem. They mistakenly believe they are part of the more elite programs and this is where their fan's ridicuous arrogance stems from. They are just another mid-major program. Until they fully comprehend this, their ignorance will continue.

Agree that some of the Marshall fan base has an inflated view of their status in collegiate sports...but I don't agree that CUSA is "mid major."  Simply defined by budgets alone that league is high major.
