Giacomo's living in the past. Northern Iowa is #5 in the RPI. Their only loss is to the #2 team. In what world is that not a good win, especially on the road? Tennessee didn't beat Oakland in their gym. We did. That's a program that's averaging nearly 25 wins a season the last three years with an RPI around 50 the last two. They're going to dominate their conference again this season.

lol not even close. UT sucks.

What's funny however is that if our schedule had said @Tennessee certain people would think that our schedule was more impressive.  It matters not that come March Oakland will be the better win because their name just doesn't have that zing. And nevermind that we wouldn't have gotten a return game from the Vols.

I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, and all wins are good, but to get SO excited about beating Oakland-Portland-Northern Iowa, they're not murderers row.

There was a time not too long ago when this was true.  But, then MAC talent (and interest) fell off, and badly.

Oakland is already a better program than EMU and may be a better program than WMU and CMU.

Portland.... eh....

Northern Iowa and the Missouri Valley are way ahead of the MAC.  Way ahead.

Its not 1995 anymore.  These would be very good wins for a team from a low ranked, low overall attendance, low exposure, one-bid conference like the MAC.

You can go further than that. Oakland is a better program than the entire MAC West. Probably the entire MAC except for maybe Kent State. And hopefully this year, us.

We're all Oakland fans for the rest of the season and it starts tomorrow afternoon when they play Michigan in The Palace. Game is at 4 on FSDetroit and FCS Atlantic which is a channel you probably get if you're on any type of sports tier with your cable package.

I said they were good wins. Northern Iowa is also a quality opponent. We SHOULD be playing good teams and we need to schedule more good teams. I just don't think it's time for a ticker tape parade. Let me know when Oakland gets an at-large bid. Remember when we won the pre-season NIT? We didn't even get an at-large bid that year. I agree the MVC is a notch above the MAC. Good. We need to play those teams.

Judging by the wooden bleacher seating section, I hope the junior varsity game didn't go into overtime and delay the start of Bryant's game.

And, you know, a year ago this team was about to be 5-4, with home losses to Oakland and Terd, the debacle against Kansas in Vegas and another home loss, to IUPUI, on the horizon.  The fact is, the schedule is what it is.  Wins are always better than losses, no matter who you play.  This year's team lost to the only 1-50 RPI team on the schedule, but they've already beaten three teams that had 51-100 RPIs (Lamar, Terd & Oakland).  That has helped the Cats to a 22 RPI (O$U is at 21), according to Rivals.  Portland has a 124 RPI, so beating them would be another feather come March.

Actually the women played beforehand, and their game featured a small pep band and a loud visiting fan section.  The men's game had neither.

The Yale and Boston University women played quite a competitive contest.  Despite going into halftime down by 16, the Yale women brought it back to within two in the final minutes before eventually falling by five.  If anybody cared.
