I thought the third ring of Saturn was inspired work but I have to admit that I'm still trying to get on board with Sweet Nick.  What does Nick think?

"Bucket by Luckett", as great as it was just occurred naturally in the game's context.  It really didn't take any creativity for that one.  We were all thinking it.

I have no problem with Lou's style. I personally find it funny and colorful. This is sports...it's supposed to be fun, people!! He may push the envelope sometimes, but it's a more exciting style than Tom Starr.

Agreed. I've traveled to a lot of road games over the years, and many basketball PA guys are flat out boring. Give me some excitement and flair over "mundane" any day. If you want a boring basketball PA guy, I hear there's plenty of seats available at a certain auditorium in Oxford.

On the bright side, found out at the game that the Marketing Director is leaving. Certainly hope that Lou's former partner in crime (Drake Bolon) gets the nod. Platinum section is missing him this season!

Didn't know this. Definitely should get Drake back assuming he's interested. Will drop a quick email of my support today, and I encourage others who knew him to do the same. Believe this would fall under Dan Hauser: hauser@ohio.edu.

I'm from the Bucket by Luckett and Basket, Ball era. Nothing contrived or a stretch. I just don't believe the "public" address announcer needs to be "entertaining", to the degree that over the top what can I think of next comments "add" to the game experience. I thought the actual game itself, the Varsity 110, the cheerleaders, the dance team, the promotionals and even the occasional half-time shows were supposed to suffice for fan entertainment.

If the public address announcer is now going to "compete" with the Russ/Rob production, why not just go with the real thing and pipe Russ/Rob live thru the PA system. Might as well go for the real thing if it's entertainment you're after and the game, the Varsity 110, the cheerleaders, the dance team, the promotionals and the occasional half-time shows don't quite get it done for you.

Actually, Miami would be the type of school that needs this type of announcing. The Convo doesn't need cheesy lines to inspire the fan base.

Miami's guy overdoes the announcer voice, but doesn't have the cheese.

I could do without the third ring of saturn and the goofy nicknames. Keep the enthusiasm but keep it simple. The guy who did it before Lou was perfect.

I'm on Lou's side too. I like his enthusiasm and the fact that he's as much a fan as all of us are. I've wondered though what the players think about being given nicknames like Sweet Nick and Rico Suave.

Love the band's location and I think having them in that spot helps the OZone -- particularly now that the OZone seems to be in sore need of leadership.

I have a different gripe. I HATE HATE HATE the table and row of seats in front of the OZone. It looks like there's a giant billboard sitting on the court, it takes the students off the court, and at least half of the seats have been empty so far. I didn't even like it when they put a partial row of chairs there last year, but that table looks terrible. Sorry to the high dollar fogies who want to sit there, but they should be over behind a basket if they want to sit on the floor. The students belong courtside.

I think for the most part, marketing has done a solid job over the past couple of years.  The budget is pretty tight there and they have a lot on their plate.  What about Drake makes some of you want him for the position?

Got to agree with Athena on this one.  Been to the first three games and have held my tongue till now.  No wonder health care is so expensive when the three biggest advertisers in the Convo are all hospitals/health care providers.  Cutting the kids/ozone off from the court is a crime.  So far the seats have been pretty well filled by folks who have been asked to come down and have a seat.  From a fan perspective, many of those seats are worthless unless you like looking at the back side of a ref.  These seats are an accident waiting to happen.  I have a couple of grand kids and there's no way we're going down there.  I hope it never happens but the first time a player saving a ball takes a kid out will be the end of this money grab.

If you want more money, stop wasting it with .88 post cards to season ticket holders to buy a $10 ticket to the Miami game.  Got mine today.

I like Lou's style.  I especially like the way he says "Eeeevo Baltic"!  I think he adds a lot of energy and excitement to the games -- even the relatively boring ones like the ASU game.  I will agree that I'm not a great fan of "stand up for defense," but other than that, Lou's got my vote.

I think most of you out there in Bobcat fandom are glad we have broadcasters and production and voices who can consciously make choices to not paint eyes beige or coat palates with artificial vanilla.

Better that we be nit-picking style than the public offerings be of the cable access "Learning To Zoom" variety.

Much like complaining about 9 wins if you think this football team should have won 10 or 11 by now, most issues with Lou or our local radio broadcasts fall firmly in the realm of #firstworldproblems

Keep up the feedback, thumbs up or down. It's all appreciated. The best stuff will be absorbed to the benefit of voices & fans alike.

Agreed. If we didn't care (and w/not a too wide ranging degree of passion) - we wouldn't be here.

I pray to God that the O-Zone steps up their game about 10x more than what they have been this season.  Hardly any chants from them, no energy during big runs, half the time when I look at the students that are actually standing in the proper "O-Zone" most of them are checking their phone with hardly any interest in the game.

My high school student section was better than this crap.  We had maybe 50 students attend an average game, but we were louder and more energetic than most of the O-Zone this year.

Eh, the late fall quarter/winter break games have generally had this sort of feel.  Winter break for obvious reasons, and those late fall quarter games usually are right there with finals (this year one was before finals, one on reading day, one during finals).

Wait for everyone to come back for MAC play before making TOO harsh of a judgement.  If they're still awful then, you have a problem.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that the students who attend games have slowly declined in how well they cheer at basketball games, but have really come along in how well they cheer at football games.

Does anyone think the combination of the on the court seats and moving the cheerleaders has an effect on this?

I guess I was thinking that the two went hand in hand.  If they aren't, then why move the cheerleaders?

I think it'll be fine come MAC play, especially with how well we're playing and the plans to bring back the Brazilian effect.
