Heard from a screaming student in the first or second row of the Ozone last night towards the ref:  "F*** you!!!  I hope you f***ing die in a car crash!!"   Classy.  I'm all for a strong, loud student section, but c'mon.

If anyone acts like that in front of Charlie Coles on the 21st, I say we gang tackle him.

Sad but true and rather ironic - the reason for the delay of the game start was a big car wreck on I 77 north of Marietta.  One of the refs was stuck in traffic.

Why wait till the next game, let's string the rascal up from the speakers at the Buffalo game and let him hang there.

I talked to the officials before tipoff and found out the delay was because the younger of the three officials was held up due to I-77 being shut down north of Charleston.  He was coming from down there and had to be re-routed.  I reminded him in the first half, after several missed calls, we waited for him and he was not anywhere near worth the wait.  I hate to call out the OZone, but they are missing some leadership down there.  I promised myself not to get into any language/behavior arguments when I bought those seats, but that completely crosses the line of acceptable behavior.

never mind the refs - our shooting SUCKED last night (and getting one or two more passes in the O set, and blocking out, and getting hands in face of shooters,.......)

I guess you could say they were "crappy" (uh oh, politically correct fecal matter reference?), or "stunk" (uh oh, politically correct bodily function reference?), or "gosh-darnit (VERY thinly veiled blasphemnony), or maybe was just "bad".

Well, "bad" don't get it for me - it was MORE URGENTLY & RELEVANTLY CRITICAL and SERIOUS than that - and SUCKED drives the message home - no dilly dallying around w/semantics........

And if you're the ref - can't stand the heat, then get outta the kitchen, especially ours..........

This thread just seems so irrelevant to me the more I think about it. How many on here have driven a car in Boston, NYC, SF, LA, etc., etc. Being POLITE, gets you Nowhere - FAST! Being Aggressive, and what "some" may consider "Rude", is what it takes to GET SOMEWHERE - FASTER, FIRST, SOONER....."WINNING"! Is INTIMIDATION an irrelevant factor in this game? Ask Gary Trent when he is in town in a couple weeks............

Driven in all of them.  That's why I laugh when people complain about traffic on East State Street.

Not sure if that was a serious post but what does intimidation have to do with cursing?   Do you really think a ref or opposing player is going to be swayed because a fan drops the F-bomb? I'm not wholly against cursing but there is a time and a place.   That time or place is never at a sports arena.

Also living on the East Coast I am what many people would consider an aggressive driver but I'm also polite about it.  Being rude isn't what gets you ahead. Being smartly aggressive is what gets you ahead.  Being rude will cause those around you to be rude in return.

As for the word "suck" I believe it has ceased to fall into the profane category.  Its use is just to commonplace in everyday events.  I can't think of how many times a day I hear it at work.  "It took me two hours to get home last night."  "Wow, that sucks."

After driving on the East Coast when I go back to Ohio and drive in Cincy/Cbus/Cleveland I ask myself, "Where are all the cars??"

Alan, I know some of the people in your section(but my side) must not have been far out of Athens before. They're part of the 'mad' rush out of the Convo with 2 minutes to go, and sometimes when the game isn't even decided. I'm guessing if one has to wait more than 2 stoplights in Athens, it may be considered a traffic jam?

In my hometown, a traffic jam is more than two people at a 4-way stop.

I'll agree w/the F Bombs out of line - especially from the crowd. As well some other vulgarisms I would agree not appropriate as discussed on other threads. However, chants of "These Refs Stink" - just no intensity or sense of urgency from that! That's what cursing displays - Intensity of Emotion. I disagree with cursing Not Ever OK in a sports arena - some of the the best intimidators use all options availible, push the boundries, leave nothing on the table.....
