In today's world,,, schools can't afford two sets of uniforms so the practice of odds away and evens at home has dissapeared.

Really?  All teams have two sets of uniforms - light ones for home and dark ones for the road.

That was actually an old NFHS rule that was changed. I dont think I recall the NCAA ever having that rule in effect.

I will share with you a jersey my pops had made when the AD at Dayton Wayne HSwas asked to replace the warriors battered and tattered HS unis. Back before Huber Heights existed the township was a little tight on funds... The AD told him he could only buy one set of unis and would not budge so he settled for just one set.

This jersey and pants to match served as road and home unis. THey also had knee high baseball type hose to match that they wore under their socks . possibly the worst unis I ever saw.

This past year I heard of a college football program that doesn't retire numbers, but they hang them in the stadium, honor them (and maybe even put a patch on jerseys bearing that number in the future), with the intent that current/future players bearing that number will try to bring additional honor to the number. I think thats a neat concept at the collegiate level.
