When I say ugly, it wasn't just the teams fault. This was a regulation game that took 2 and half hours!!! The refs have to share in the blame for the disgusting pace and lack of flow tonight. Did the whistle blow every freaking time they exhaled in the first half?

I feel like WMU is often involved in foulfests.
Seems to be their historical MO - I can't remember a WVU game that wasn't ugly - and MAC refs just.well you know..........

I think it is time to make a conscious effort to get Ricardo more minutes and TJ less.  Indications were already leaning this way but the past 2 games really solidified it for me.

Each win is not created equal.  We have had a lot of these "unimpressive" wins at home this year.  We are better than going to the final minute with WMU at home.  But the one thing you can say is this team seems to find a way to win...in recent years, we seemed to find a way to lose.  We just gotta get more consistent play.

Without DJ we lose this game. Period.

Offut on the bench with fouls, Kellogg ice cold, Ivo seemed bothered by the zone and lost some agressiveness, Keely couldn't stop from jumping into guys, TJ another 0-for the game.

Ricardo was great, Jon Smith also played well, but neither guy is an offensive threat.

Bingo.  People complaining about DJ fail to mention that nobody else on the effing court would take a fricken shot or make an offensive move. Kellogg  was shooting early until he missed an open three and all of a sudden he wouldn't shoot.  Ivo wouldn't shoot and looked completely lost against the zone.   So I ask you who was DJ taking shots away from?  He'd pass the ball to a player and that player would pass it right back.  But by all means, complain about DJ when he, Ricardo Johnson, Reggie Keely and Jon Smith were the only players that looked like they were interested in playing tonight.  DJ was not only not a problem he was our savior tonight.  But hey, he missed a couple of shots so he must suck.

Even the 2002 KSU team had their share of battles. It's the MAC; you're going to have at least a few ugly grinders. If you accept it, it's a lot easier to digest.

People.  Anybody that thinks DJ Cooper sucks is a moron.  It just drives me nuts when we miss a 3, get the offensive rebound and it's kicked back out to DJ to set up again....Good right?  No, he chucks it right back up again from Lancaster before anybody can even turn around.  The problem isn't DJ Cooper and I agree with everything you say, but for God's sake....this drives me insane.

I guess it might be a difference in opinion of what's best offensively.  I'll take an open shot at any point in the shot clock as long as feet are set and the shot isn't hurried.  Only exception being at the end of halves.  Some of the easiest looks you can get are off of offensive rebounds, because the defense is scrambled trying to get the rebound leaving shooters open on the perimeter.

I think we've struggled the most this year when we've gone into burn the clock mode.  I'm all for continuing to attack whether it be from inside or out.

I don't think DJ sucks, he is a great athlete and great ball player but basketball is a thinking man's game.  I think he makes the wrong decisions too many times.  I love seeing a long 3 just as much as the next guy but if they are not hitting, pound the ball inside.  Reggie is a tough man who will find a way to get a shot off.  Ivo can be the same but he seems timid sometimes.  I am wondering why no one is mentioning Stevie.  He's improved a lot these past 10 or so games.  He's understanding college isn't like high school.  Ricardo is turning into another great play-maker off the bench.  That is one thing I like about this team this year is the depth off the bench.  Not too many agreed we needed it but it sure the hell making a big difference this year.  We are better than last year and I think make a great run up in Cleveland (got my bags packed already).

Kellog and Hall went 1-12. 1 for freaking 12.  Pretty much all good shots all within the offense (and likely potential assists from Cooper).  Clang clang clang clang clang clang clang clang clang clang clang.

Offut fouled out after playing just 14 minutes.

Cooper last night:  5-13 (39%), 4-9 (45%), 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals.

Cooper was not a problem last night.  He hit huge shots for us.

Go look at box scores.  You will see a lot of ugly games from our other guards.  But, all we talk about is DJ.  Whatever.

Cooper shot a higher percentage than the team. Ric and Jon had nice games but neither are offensive threats.

And I've made an effort the last few games to see how often the team passes back to DJ in a halfcourt set. It happens a lot, so I'm sure he must feel expected to create something. Even when we have the ball right under the basket we will sometimes kick it outside the arc and reset. It'll be a step in the right direction if Ric ever desides to finish a drive. He can be a Whitney Davis-type or better when that aspect of his game comes along.

One thing - Stevie is struggling to chuck the ball in the ocean right now.  And where did Nick Kellogg's shot go yesterday? He hits one, but after that had several (SEVERAL) good looks, none of which were even close. I don't begrudge him the attempts because they were very open, but they were barely hitting the rim.

For not particular reason, I like that comment.

I missed the WMU, but my opinion from the games that I've seen is that we are a good defensive team, not a good offensive team and need one more big man/some more rebounding.  Can't argue with 16-4.  But struggling against redhawk and WMU at home--somehow doesn't bode well.
