My guess is that you could use a Smart car to carry all the folks interested in making that trip with you.  Outside of Russ, this is way down the list of desired locations/opponents for most of us.

If it were a weekend game, I'd consider it. I'd still like to get to NIU for a game sometime.

I've got an absurd backlog of vacation days to use or lose. Northern is one of the last campuses I've not seen. And I'm itchy for an adventure.

Also, I'm going to steal the MAC Championship trophy.

74 to 39, great trip easy ride. I remember going north on 39 the summer after Tommy's freshman year just after the coaching change. Gas was 4 bucks a gallon so we took the Si to Canada with all the fishing gear. He jumped onthe tail of 5 cars heading north to Rockpatch and looked down after about 25 solid miles of this train of cars going north. Speedo sitting on 107 all the way to the I 80 exit. Stillranks as one of his favorite drives ever. Get gas before Bloomingrton as once you turn north aint none for a good bit of the way.

I was there staying over at the Student Union with my youngest right before the shootings took place in the buildings right below our window. One of Tommy's cousins was part of the class and was in the lecture hall at the time. Have fun, student union is a good bargain if you are staying over.

As long as you are exiting on Annie Glidden road.......

Who was Joseph Gliidden and what contribution did he make to taming the west?

I'm looking forward to making it to my 10th of 12 MAC arenas. It looks like I'll be hitting Portillo's in Sycamore pre-game for a hot italian beef sandwich and maybe a Chicago style dog. If that doesn't sound like Chouteau cuisine I don't know what does.

Reading about that Italian beef sandwich makes me think of a roast beef po boy at the Parkway Bakery. And that makes me want to join Conference USA so we can play league games at Tulane.

My favorite. Italian beef with sport peppers dunk it.    I like it wet.

Chicago polish everything on. NO ketchup.

12 years in the City eating Chicagos best from  my faves Flukeys, Superdawg and Hastee Tastee on the North Side to the myriad of places on the southside and out Archer and Ogden Aves in pursuit of the best. Making me want to get in the car and go. If you cant get to Sycamore turn west on 38 from Annie Glidden and there is a pretty authentic place there on the south side of the street just past the holiday inn. 

:Portillos though.. that is an institution.

I should point out that a freind who is more than familiar with the trip let me know the route I take is not the shortest. He is right. 65 to 80/94  then 294 out 88 or stay on 80 is the shortest. Making several trips to see friends and family that way each year and owning an Ipass I have to agree....but I hate the traffic, Indiana State Police and like going fast....so I go the other way...

He also reminded me there are places like El Paso, Lasalle Peru et al to get gas....but I have been on that stretch of road on empty and alway s gas up before turning north. Just came across there Veterans Day returning from Ft Dodge IA. . I dunno Pete, your call. 74 outta Cincy for sure but I think Joe can attest to the fact that 74 moves pretty quick out and back past Illinois State( and 39 goes even faster if you dont dawddle looking at the miles and miles of pretty windmills.).

One of my favorite childhood memories from the 1960s was my father calling my mom at 11 at night to tell her that he and a bunch of his newspaper cronies had been arrested for an illegal poker game at the Diamond Grille.  My mom refused to pick him up at the police station so he had to take a cab home.

Man . Reading the reviews is something. Always on the lookout for stuff. Not sure when the next time you will get me in Crackron is but I will put this right up there with Crave as MUST places to eat. May even be worth a drive dfown when I am en route to the Toruney.

Beef a roo... amongst my friends that is an inside joke. Love it.

When you wake up in the morning and roll over to kiss your honey a number of the females in our social circle decided the males in the group tended to have that Beef a Roo smell within their morning mouth......still get chuckles and chortles when someone in that group yells "beef a roo"......  But seriously we need an away thread like the one we keep on our Indiana HS webbie

I love borna's idea of a road trip travel guide. Luigi's is cash only. I'm not from Akron (where it is a true institution), but I honestly don't really get Luigi's. There are some great eats down there, including the aforementioned Swenson's, but Luigi's doesn't do anything for me. I'd add any of the many Barberton chicken joints to a short list of crAkron eateries for visitors, especially if you want something that you cannot get anywhere else.
