We’re in the same bracket as FAU, George Mason, and Loyola Marymount.

It’s the better one of two. Stony Brook, Jacksonville, Pacific, and Bethune Cookman.

Happy to eat crow on our bracket placement.

George Mason is coming off 27-9 season, 18-16, FAU, and 17-15 for Loyola Marymount.
I think FAU is gonna be fun to watch.

They gobbled up a ton of portal guys. Looks like they looked at every available 4 star recruit and was like, yeah I'll take him. 3-4 committed. They lost Baba Miller to Cincinnati, but one of the portal kids is a 6'10" PF who was the 72nd ranked player out of HS. Also scooped a PG from IU, though he was injured or fell off hard after averaging 11/3/3 as a freshman at Stanford.

While I was down that rabbit hole, AJ Brown was a 4-star transfer with a 92 grade in the portal. Kinda crazy. We all know he's good, but he was graded higher as a transfer than a HS recruit.

Anyway, I was on Masons basketball board and they're really high on a bunch of transfers Tony Skinn was able to get - he also brought in his son who was on Kevin Durant's AAU team.

Dont know much about LMU, but should be a solid field.
To the surprise of no one, I know a lot more about the other LMU -- Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.

Yea, I think FAU is poised for a bounce back. A transition year was to be expected after losing May, Vlad Goldin, Alijah Martin, and Johnell Davis.

Tony Skinn has been crushing at George Mason -- 20-12 and 27-9 in his first two seasons.

As soon as I say that Akron gets Murray State in a neutral site game for Jack Jones Classic.

As some of you know, in addition to teaching at Marshall, I was also on the faculty of Murray State for several years. If I could put together the OCF Holiday Tournament, it would be Ohio, Ohio State, Marshall and Murray State. Now, all I need is the financing.

So far, so good with the schedule. Looks like we can finally put to bed "nobody wants to play Ohio" narrative that we've been hearing for the last five years.

Would be sweet if that was a home game.

I won't pretend to know the ins and outs, but we have a hell of a time getting 'marquee' match-ups in Athens. I get UC/Dayton/OSU don't have much to gain, but it would be nice to get them in the building once a decade. Guess we have to get them on the schedule at all first.

I feel like our best bet for a strong home game is another mid-major like Furman or McNeese/conference winner. I'd still love to see us play at Dayton, UC, or OSU on rotation.

According to D1 Docket, @Louisville is Saturday 11/15. We host Bethune-Cookman Wednesday 11/19. They also show that we will host Marshall. Plus Illinois State and a home SBC Challenge game, nice start to the pre-conference home slate.

Starting to take shape. Guessing --

11/3 (season opener) -- SBC Challenge
11/8 -
11/11
11/15 - @Louisville
11/19 - Bethune-Cookman (Sunshine Slam)
11/24 - Sunshine Slam
11/25 - Sunshine Slam

February - SBC Challenge

Illinois State is likely the 8th or 11th. Marshall is probably a December game again.

My understanding, I think from what I read on this board, was when we played Davidson in Cleveland that we owed them a game in Charlotte but between our schedule, their schedule, and the Hornets schedule that a good date couldn't be worked out last year. I assume that if that was true that they are looking into opportunities this year and that there is a pretty good chance for there being a game down there. Am I wrong on that?

Forgot about this game. You might be right. As the schedule currently stands, our December is wide open.

What FJC31 mentioned above about the schedule is correct. It is no wonder Ohio doesn’t play power four programs. Look at the record the last few seasons with zero power four programs on the schedule. However, the AD is ok with scheduling 50 to 75 % of non league games with power four teams for the football program.

There's a lot of coaches chiming in how difficult non-conference scheduling is. I'm surprised we haven't seen more non-conference games with schools who have coaches from the same tree as Boals. For example, I for sure thought we'd play at Butler by now with Matta back and the relationship he has with Boals. Holtmann and DePaul? I would think that'd be easier to make happen. USF and Bama just locked in a 3 game series (Hodgson and Oats).

Come on Man, he has to play UMass twice this year, a program that's been to the. Final Four. Got get in a few cupcakes before the conference season starts.

So Louisville is the only Power four school on the current schedule for next season? Congrats that is the first Power Four school in three seasons. However, it is ok for the football program to play 50-75% of non league games vs Power Four programs. Thank you AD for that scheduling!

Thrilled what Boals is able to do with scheduling this upcoming season. If we are playing at St. Mary’s…you have to believe that we are going to play another game out west somewhere around November 8th right? Seems like you get more bang for your buck playing two games on the west coast instead of just one.
