Just so everyone knows. Northern Illinois hasn't lost by more than 15 points at home all year.

They play people close-ish at home, its not anything new.

We seem to play to the level of our opponents. Remember we just beat Kent State by 22 points a few weeks ago?

I suspect and expect that the quality of play will increase as we get back into MAC East play.

I truly am amazed that I am reading B.M.W-ing after five straight wins and 18 of the first 22.

Chat room was off the hook tonight.  Tourism, politics, women, libations, gentlemen's clubs, and a little football and basketball talk mixed in.

Not to mention bar locations in Athens, fine dining establishments up and down the east coast and a thorough and complete anthropologic analysis of the state of North Carolina.  A good time was had by all.  The consensus was that Asheville will be a fun place to go on our bracket buster return trip.

Although I am not jumping on the doomsday bandwagon...I am getting a little tired of saying "Well, a win is a win."  I still think we need to improve on several things or we will be in for a rude awakening the 2nd run thru the East.

What's potentially scary is if we make the big dance and play the way we have lately we'd be an embarrassment. I've gone back and looked at our wins. Outside of a handful of games our play has been barely good enough to win. And the competition and their respective records isn't earth shattering.

Some of you folks are on crack.

We scored 1.025 PPP and gave up 0.878.  One of our better shooting nights -- excellent 3 point %, improved FT % (which has been a concern of late), and to find a better PPWS you'd have to go all the way back to Kennesaw.  It seems to me some of you have a problem with our style of play.  Our recent games have featured relatively low numbers of possessions compared to what we have become more used to the last couple years.

Total point output is an incredibly poor way to look at a team.

There are certainly things that need improved upon, but a nice step back from the ledge would be a breath of fresh air around these parts.

If the MAC Tournament started tonight, guess who would be the #2 seed?

We generally have longer possessions, thus fewer possessions and lower scores, when facing zone defenses.

Well in their defense, the taxes are pretty outrageous.

And in defense of the not win another game comment getting all the attention...all he said was if we play like we did tonight.  He didn't suggest we would indeed play each game like we did tonight and then lose each game.  Not saying I agree with him, I just hate seeing things taken out of context.

We don't seem to play well for 40 minutes in any game this year.
We are a poor shooting team, poor free throw team, poor rebouding team.
But..... we some how find a way to win.

Are you guys for real?  We are now worried that we will be an embarrassment in the big dance?  Really?  There hasn't been a single game this year we weren't in it at the end. We've lost four games.  It never ceases to amaze me how people know we are going to lose a certain number of games every year but can't stand the ride.   If we had blown out NIU, Ball State and Western people would still be complaining that it meant nothing.   We can definitely play better, and I'm sorry a lot of people are tired of hearing it, but a win is a win is a win.  I will never tire of hearing it.  We didn't play well and yet we were still up 20 on the road with 5 minutes to go.   We are 2-1 against our 3 biggest rivals for the top spot with our 2 victories coming in impressive fashion.  Yet somehow we put more weight on how the 9 point road win against Northern looked?

Great point OVfan! We have a great season going right now and some people can't seem to enjoy it! How you perceive the world (Glass have full or half empty) dictates your view on most things. I'm having a great time following the Bobcats and leaving games (or turning off the tv) after a win. Those of us who are happy with 18 wins already need to keep speaking up! Some people are so worried about what's coming next that they can't simply enjoy the ride! It's not drinking the kool aide, it's simply appreciating what we have done and hoping we continue to get better down the stretch!!!!!

I don't know, we are winning games, but we are only holding our MAC opponents 10% below their scoring average.  Oh dear, what ever will we do?

If it's for $1M, it damn better be one of those really big checks you see on TV!

If you would have told me before the game that Ivo and Coop would combine for 7 points, I would have started chugging Jager to drown my sorrows for the loss we were about to experience.

Yet, we still won fairly handidly when we clearly weren't playing our best basketball.  I'll take it.  Continue the quest to sweep the west on Saturday.

On another note, seriously, how bad is the west?  Its' leader was just slammed on their home court by the east's 2nd worst team.  Terrible basketball being played on that half of the MAC . . .

I think the point is we are winning games, both home and away, but they are typically ugly wins by less than what many think we should win by.  I agree.  I know a few of those home game wins went down to the last minute.  At this point, we are piling up non distinguishing wins and making the Coaches record in close games a lot better.  Hey, things could be worse.

Wasn't it in Oxford?  Either way, EMU had the game all but sewn up but blew it... which happens a lot when they play Miami. It's weird.

Dragon, that's my bad.  I was referring to BG smoking Western.  Got my MAC west standings mixed up.

In no way though does my error make up for the terribleness of the MAC west.

You might re-think this if you did a little research on the rate history.

Don't get me wrong here - I like the Kool Aid. I'm all in, sell it at the concession stands - really! Go Cardiac Cats - more fun than a game that's over at the half! Full 40 minutes of entertainment each ticket! What could be better?
