Last year, Ivo had a great game against NIU and he had great performances for a lot of the rest of the season.  Hopefully it happens again (would love to see shooters get hot again too.)

I'll be Captain Obvious, but we should win this one.

Not only should we win it, we should win it by more than 15.  Question is, what offensive team shows up to make that happen?  We already know OUr guys will play good enough defense to beat this team.

DJ typically tries to put on a show there since it's close to home.  Let's hope it's a good sort of show.

I remember the throwback game. Another terrible NIU team came in and we were in our annual panic mode. I said we would "beat NIU like a drum." Naturally, we lost.

I think that was the worst I've ever felt after a Bobcat basketball game. You may or may not have kicked over a cheerleader's megaphone that day.

I would like to think this team is a little different than that game, that year.  We have what I consider to be a true leader in Offut, and they're playing the most consistent defense I've ever seen as a Bobcat.

That was after we lost to Kent.

I remember we booed the team off the court after losing to NIU in 2003. Apparently, the Huskies just bring so many good memories with them.

This is why we are 17-4.  I'm sure Danny Nee had some really good defensive teams but I don't remember it being their signature.  This team's signature is defense in general and turnovers in particular.

We need to just play well and get an easy win.  That will be good for the team and good for the fans.

I'd consider making the trip for the sole purpose of enjoying some Portillo's.

No one in our fan base seems to be taking this game seriously.  But, as someone else posted, I'm hoping to see some improvement in shooting and offensive execution while continuing the strong defensive effort.

Billy Taylor said last night BSU was in a dog fight till the end. He continuously told his kids this NIU team was not one to sleep on especially at home. They are young and energetic and just need a little confidence to go withtheir hunger. Getting rid of Toler may bring them together.

I hope the team remembers the old saying "Never underestimate your opponent".  We did that on my softball team where we were undefeated and the team we played hadn't won a game all season.  We went out there and toyed with them and next thing we knew, they were up 8-2.  Luckily we buckled down and pulled out the win but it wasn't easy.

You can't ever look past a team.  Always come prepared to play your best every game.  I hope the team remembers that.

One thing this team hasn't had is nights off effort-wise. When we've struggled it's been shooting the ball.  For one thing there are too many guys fighting for minutes. I really like the character of this team. So yes the fanbase is taking this one lightly but I think the guys will be up for it.

I learned from the best road tripper in the MAC -- you. We'll dunk it for sure. Then, I'd like to see a Bobcats win and a few Ohio dunks over at the NIU Convo.

I am just happy there is not a 13 inch record snowfall in Peoria that cancels the teams flight and makes them take 2 busses or the temsp arent 16 below like the last 2 times we have been there. SHould be relatively uneventful travel wise

ENjoy and be safe travellers

dont forget your I pass

I was just perusing the NIU board and what little basketball talk they have is pretty upbeat all things considered.  They even seem to like the fact that Toler was booted.  It sounds like Montgomery has them pointed in the right direction and they play hard every game.  That's a good sign for the league.

RealtimeRPI has the Huskies pulling out a one point victory.

http://www.realtimerpi.com/bin/rtr/rpi/scouting?team1=270&team2=271&gender=1&home=&date=02-01

They have us losing to Toledo, EMU and Fiami as well.  Haters.

We'll just have to hope they're not prescient.

Joe Mac wants the trip home to be euphoric.

Already a good start to the day. Smooth flight. Sitting in MDW baggage claim, waiting for @ColumbusIceGuy and listening to B.B. King and Etta James. More blues coming. Nighthawks.

As for tonight - a one point win will do it. Road wins are a lot of fun, but euphoria is reserved for championships.

Someone got a "Word of the Day" calendar for Christmas ...

This game worries me because it's a classic should win... and so often in the past, that's when we fall on our faces.

Hope the 'Cats keep up the good work on defense, and Nick and Walt start hitting shots early.
