"RussHeartsOhioFake" is his handle. Russ Eisenstein is his name. The next line is what he said. Below that is the time stamp. The last line is an indication that Rob saw the tweet and "retweeted" it, or shared it with his followers.

As Ozoner mentioned on the NIU board the Russ account isn't really Russ, it's just a parody.

Did anybody listen to the NIU broadcasters last night?  I lasted about five minutes before I couldn't take any more.  Every foul on the Huskies was a phantom call and every foul on the Bobcats was a hammer.  There were two almost identical charges called (both questionable) and they whined like crazy about the one called on them and then said Offutt ran over their guy like a Mack truck.  Luckily our broadcast was perfectly synced with the video  for me.

No, "fake Russ Eisenstein" is his name. As in sarcasm.

The twitter comments from these guys do see pretty juvenile especially considering that they are representatives of the team and university.  I'm sure he was trying to be funny, but in my opinion you got to be more professional than that when you're in the public eye.

I actually enjoyed listening to the NIU broadcasters. Can't find fault with anyone referencing White Castles while talking about driving through the state of Ohio. Or doesn't find the need to tell the listeners what they're wearing that day or about their workout.

Ay yes, the ever unpopular what are they wearing segment.  A good friend of mine, who has been a professional broadcaster and has done sports during his career, has a fit of apoplexy every time he hears this banter.  [Doc, what's my word score for "apoplexy"?]

I'm with Steveland on this.  Our guy is way too self-absorbed.    The NIU play by play guy was just fine.  The color guy left a bit to be desired.  Match Rob with their play by play guy and you have a winning combination.

Even the children mopping the lane at NIU Convo Center are terrible at their jobs. #fail

This is hilarious. And I feel like the NIU faithful should be more worried about their program scrapping together only 2 wins this season and less worried about our radio broadcasters.

God forbid Russ & Rob inject a little fun into the broadcast. I for one enjoy the lighthearted banter.   Seriously, lighten up!!!   A select few here seem to take pleasure in finding something, anything, to complain about.  That has to be a miserable way to go through life.

The NIU guy was average at best and he repeatedly called coach Groce JIM Groce.  I can deal with an occasional slip of the tongue but he said it 4 or 5 times.  That's bush league.

Russ & Rob are not only the best combo of broadcasters in the conferenece but also the best individually at their own craft.  I really isn't even close.

Oh baby what a big time post!!!!

I agree. I enjoy their lighthearted banter. Living out of state I listen to them often and love their broadcasts.

Agreed.  When I first turned it on I thought the pbp guy sounded just like Reghi but after they complained about every call that went against Northern I knew it wasn't Captain Happy.   I still don't get why the What are they wearing segment bugs people.

I don't know what (some of) you guys are talking about, I love our broadcast team. But then, I'm just a poor, dumb, biomedical scientist, not a journalism professional or someone with journalism/broadcast training.

I also grow weary of the journalism angle being used to critique our broadcast team.  I view them as entertainers, not journalists.  In today's world of media choices, people reporting what is going on need to be interesting.  Merely being informative is no longer good enough because the information is already available form many other sources.  I think a large part of our message board has no sense of humor and is way too critical of everything around them.

We lead the league in attendance and folks complain about the numbers not being accurate.  We have the best gameday atmosphere in the league and folks complain about all the promotions.  We have a team that is 18-4 and folks complain about the way they win.  We have the best broadcast team in the league and someone goes to another team's message board and outs Rob C. for not being liked because of a funny twitter post.  Does anyone really take a die hard NIU basketball fan seriously anyway?  This is ridiculous.  I hope Russ and Rob don't change a thing.

Now that there's a break in the action, let's turn to the soon to be world famous "What are They Wearing" feature of your message board.

"As it's casual Friday and a warm one at that, I have on a long sleeved, patterned corduroy shirt - dark green backgound with blue and white squares, accented by "oh so right" off-white buttons.  Bottom half is tan khakis, unfortunately, pleated,no cuff and stylish in their own way, contrasting belt cinched tight to show off my vanishing waistline and emphasize my abs with matching brown leather oxfords and de riguer over the calf hosiery.  My glasses are squared and narrow."

Thanks to our sponsor, the "New to You" clothing store on W Fifith Avenue.

Just what everyone wanted to read, right?
