Not sure if this is overreacting but it's great seeing the Zips infighting and shouting explatives at their coaches.  Abreu is a pouty little *****-*** punk.

Groce at 23 wins passed his personal best of 22 in 2009-10. OHIO won 24 games in 1994-95 and 25 games in 1993-94 those are the school records. Ohio can tie the all-time record of 25 by winning out the regular season and set a new record by winning in the MAC semifinals.

Or do we bump Groce's pay up to 800k per year like George Mason did with Jim Larranaga. That worked for a while. I caught the end of the Miami-Florida State game and now see Larranaga on the sidelines for the Hurricanes. Groce may want to wait one more year with such a loaded team coming back for 2012-13. I would imagine that some of those recruits he's signed a couple years out go with Groce and not the school.

Illinois is not a destination for a coach who could be so much more. That team and those players don't deserve a coach like ours. Grove will leave eventually, but not for that piece of garbage.

And Akron proved once again that they are silly, stupid, and a waste of a university.

Best showcase for Akron since the Terry Bowden hiring.

Say what you will about Akron but Dambrot with 7 straight 20+ wins does a good job there.

2004–2005 Akron 19–10 11–7 T–2nd (East)
2005–2006 Akron 23–10 14–4 T–2nd (East) NIT 2nd Round
2006–2007 Akron 26–7 13–3 1st (East)
2007–2008 Akron 24–11 11–5 2nd (East) NIT 2nd Round
2008–2009 Akron 23–13 10–6 3rd (East) NCAA 1st Round
2009–2010 Akron 24-11 12-4 2nd (East) CBI 1st Round
2010–2011 Akron 23–13 9-7 T–3rd (East) NCAA 1st Round

Add in 2011-12 @ 20-9

Did I say anything about Dambrot? No. Akron has been, is, and will always be a fragment of a university. Community college with dorms. With any luck, we will dispose of their sorry asses at the MAC tourney.

I wonder if the committee would give us a better seed than 13 or 14 out of reputation from making the second round 2 years ago? A few of the rotation players are still there from that team. We might be worthy of a 10 or an 11 seed with a 27-6 record.

medler, i'm sure tulsa fans said the same thing when bill self was their coach.  it may not be a "destination" job. but self managed to parlay the illinois h.c. post into the top spot at kansas...

Well the "waste of a university" has 2 NCAA appearances in the past 3 years. I guess I'd be better to ignore the infantile posts that occur here periodically.

If we deserved a 10 or 11 seed that means we'd be an at-large team. Even if we win out, we probably won't get anything over a 13 seed.

Man, what a lot of whiny buzzkills here. Get the title of the thread...overreact. How about enjoying a win for a few minutes. Groce is leaving...Akron is the best thing since the wheel. My God.

Great home record this year. We still gotta get atleast one more of the final two to get second.  Two road games in the MAC isn't a sure thing, but a great performance by Ohio tonite should atleast jolt Akron's confidence.  Offutt doing an Armand Bassett imprssion and heating up for late February and March? Three's were dropping tonite.  Ohio is the very tough when the three balls fall. 56% from the floor and had the projected  MAC's #1 seed down 33.  Best thing for Ohio was the losses to Toledo and EMU. That woke this team up and know they are playing like they did in November and December.  Groce got his players to refocus and now we are right in it to go get that semi final bye.

Thanks to modern electronics, I've seen...we've all seen...a lot of OHIO BASKEBALL over the past decade.  And I can't recall the 'Cats quitting like 'kron did tonight.  We played very well.  And it took the play out of 'kron.

Somebody refresh my memory...a year or two years ago we demolished Akron in Athens near the end of the season (the game Dambrodt called a time out with 10 seconds left and down 90 points or something like that).  What happened to each team after?  Seriously, I remember the blowout but can't remember what year it was or what happened after.  Hey, I'm over 60 for crying out loud!
