Miami is our biggest rival, but I honestly want that program to do well as long as it's not at our expense. I have too much respect for the school, their coaching tree, and the respect (most of) their players have for the game. Miami elicits the biggest attendance figures, but Akron elicits the most hostility (it's about HOSTILITY!). Hipsher, "Bullpoop", Devaughn cranking on Linhart, two blowout wins last year. This should be a fun one tomorrow.

The key to this game for us remains the same...DEFENSE...
We play like we did at Buffalo and we win, plain and simple.

I will add one more point to consider...Offutt seems to be coming into his own lately, all good for us.

I look for Offutt to continue to have another good game today.  He was having his way with Akron and I still maintain if he wasn't on the bench in foul trouble, Ohio may have just won that game at Akron earlier this year.

I think we should have won at Akron.
I will be most pleased to see us school the Roos tonight.

I don't doubt Dambrot might think Ohio is nearing Kent as a rival. But rivalries are based on more than five-year periods of time and they're going to be around long after Keith Dambrot leaves Akron and follows his real life's calling of owning a Hyundai dealership on South Arlington Road or something.

Dambrot's feelings about Ohio date back to when he was an assistant at Akron in the mid 1980s under coach Bob Rubert.  We wouldn't play Akron back then and he always said we had a high and mighty opinion of ourselves.  He and Rupert ended up on NCAA probation by the way.

Since there's a motive behind everything Dambrot says, it wouldn't surprise me if he's also trying to send a shot at Kent by inferring that someone may approach Kent as Akron's main rival. He's the master at trying to take little digs at others.

I will unfortunately be away for this game and won't be able to even get it on TV or radio.  I have a class to prep for the GRE in Pittsburgh which is about an hour away from me.  I remember someone mentioning that there is an app or something on the Android where I can listen to any broadcast, what is it? (I'd watch it on espn3 on my phone....but I figure doing that and driving home would be a not so good idea )  Luckily the class ends at 8 so I should be able to make it back home in time to catch some of it.

I have used the TuneIn Radio App before, it seems to work for me.  Just type in Ohio Bobcats Basketball or something like that and they will give you the power 105 radio broadcast.

Power 105 comes in nicely via Tune-in Radio app on iphone.  I assume there is a droid version too.

edit: Beat to the punch on the app advice, so I will just add that Akron smells.

If TuneIn doesn't work for you, just hitting the desktop version of ohiobobcats.com and clicking the same streaming link you would on the desktop should bring you to a mobile version of the Stretch site.

I know this is the last home game on the year and we have no seniors (that play) on the basketball team, but are we recognizing seniors in other sports before the game?

I have plans to make it down there, just would like to know if I need to leave even earlier.

ESPN3.com video just came on...looks like we'll need it to start off.  If you don't get ESPN3.com, use the http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/ohio.portal

I've lost count how many times these announcers have messed up player names.  10+ so far.

The matchup between Zach Marshall and Reggie Keeney really has been something to watch.

Great first half.....we need to keep this up and keep the zips down in the second half.....

My only complaint is I hate it when we are up more than 15 (a good problem to have) and after either a defensive steal or really any offensive possession we come down and pop a shot in the first 5 secs of the shot clock....if the game is 10 or closer...do whatever that comes naturally...keep the tempo "normal"....whatever that is.

Its one thing to take an easy fast break layup but if we don't have that we should have a team rule that up by 15 or more....take at least 15 seconds off the clock before shooting......

While I'll admit that 3 on the break from DJ wasn't the shot I wanted, I think the mistake was not taking the ball to the middle and letting the guys fill the lanes around him.  This team should never take their foot off the pedal.  We tend to struggle mightily when we aren't in full on attack mode.

Picking up way too many fouls in 2nd half and now 2 shot clock violations.
