The Catamounts erase a 10 point lead in less than a minute to put it into overtime

Me too.  I think they need a coach that will take them to the next level...

Nahhh...he likes those beach clambakes so it'd be Coastal Carolina.

Fine effort by Larry's Catamounts tonight!

Was at the game tonight rooting for Larry and the Cats and I have to say when they were down by a dozen, they looked beat (4 games in 4 nights) and I was ready to call it a night as many other fans did stream out, then the place just exploded after the first three, since WCU made up a good majority of the student fans,  all of the sudden fans came back into the arena to catch it. No fairytale ending for WCU this year, but they did the Western North Carolina community and their school proud.

Completely spoiled this year with the Big South & SoCon tourneys all within the city limits here.

Oh man.  Nice one Jeff.

WCU - Davidson and St. Mary's - Gonzaga were great games.

Two of the best examples of the GREAT basketball played outside the big 6 conferences. What great fun it was to flip back and forth between those two games last night!

Even during the great comeback last night, in the back of mind I keep thinking...no way Western Carolina pulls this out.

After all...this is Larry Hunter and March.

Would be an interesting stat to dig up Coach Hunter's career record in MAC and SoCon tournaments.

Still....great effort by Larry's boys.

I believe  that you are correct in saying it was a great effort by Coach Hunter and WCU...but I think sighting that Hunter chokes in March is a low-blow in this situation.  He led his team to 4 victories in 4 days and took Davidson to the last shot in double overtime in the final with a team that entered the tournament with a sub .500 record.  If 4's three goes through - its glass slipper time.  That's not a bad March performance if you ask me.  If WCU was the SOCON tourney favorite and lost in the final in double OT...that's a different story.  This was a heroic run imho.

Again, it was a hell of an effort and I was rooting for Western Carolina to win. Yes..winning 5 games in a week is asking too much. I'm just saying that I never had the feeling they were going to win.

I do think it would be interesting to dig up what his career record is in March conference tournaments. When I was at OHIO, I witnessed 4 consecutive 1st round MAC tourney losses by Hunter led teams. Any die-hard Bobcat will tell you that he didn't get it done in March as well as he should have with the teams he had. The stat on this would not lie.

You know what would quiet this storm?

Ohio's attendance figures are a massive government con job.

FWIW...WCU played their asses off last night. It was epic and what makes college basketball AMAZING!

I am not denying these facts.  I am saying that the 2012 WCU run should not be lumped into the same "pile of failure in a sadness bowl" that you reference in the above post.
