Not good at all.  We are in HUGE trouble when we see Buffalo/ Akron and get into foul trouble.  Smith, Baltic, Keely are all susceptible to foul trouble, especially against these two teams.  Any smart coach is going to highlight this and say GO AFTER THEM.  This scares me big time.  I was just thinking last night about how nice it was to have 4 big men, who are all capable of having BIG games. Especially, a guy like Goard who can make a huge difference late in games. We can only hope TJ Hall has a post move that he has been waiting to bring out of the closet and can play like he is 2 inches taller.

I worry more long term.  It would be great to have him in Cleveland but this scares me more going forward.  I watched the Georgetown-Ohio game last night with my youngest son (DJ is his favorite player) and I was thinking how nice it was that we hadn't had any drama this year.  So much for that.

At first I was legitimately concerned, but now I think it's not a stab in the heart. If you look at his season game log, the games where he played double digit minutes are games we won quite comfortably. The only exception was the game at Akron where we were in serious foul trouble.

Let's not throw him under the bus just yet. He seems like a nice kid that might just need some academic guidance. He doesn't seem like a Coleman-Bassett type at all.

Any reason why? Disciplinary, sickness, etc?

Goard didn't put up big numbers this season, but he makes a HUGE difference coming off the bench.  Whether guarding the in-bound pass, bringing more energy on defense, or fighting for rebounds...we are going to miss those long arms.  Although, I'm confident he will have these academic issues cleared for next season.  This is a great group of guys.

Truth is he doesn't consistently make a huge difference coming off the bench. There have been an equal number of games (at least) when he has come in and looked lost.  He has had some games where he did make a nice impact, but the jury is still out.  I hope he works hard during the off season.  If he works as hard at Rico did, we should see a huge jump in year 2.

While he may have been inconsistent, long-term (over next few years), it looked like he could be a player.  I recall folks on this board talking about Baltic in his first year like he would be a bust.  His improvement from year 1 to 2 was evident and he has improved ever since.  Hopefully this kid gets his grades in order as he can be very important over the next few years.

I don't want to sound like a broken record.  But, Ivo, Reggie, and Jon are going to run into some foul trouble at some point in this tournament.  Goard would normally be our savior.  This WILL be a concern.

This is really disappointing. I di not think the quarter was finished yet. It seems odd that he would be declared ineligible this week. I hope he gets it together and matures on, and off, the court. I really like him.

On a side note, I watched his high school team, George Washington (Charleston, WV) play in the WV playoffs at Parkersburg HS last week. I can't imagine how good they were last year. They have a 6'9" guy still on their roster. No wonder they won the state championship.

I guess that waste of a scholarship Jacobs will get a run in that case. How bad could he hurt us defensively? He is like 6'10

Remember KVK getting lost on the court when he was a freshman/sophomore?  Hate to say it but, Jacobs looks even worse...I wouldn't call him a waste of a scholly tho.  He could very well be a KVK-like-Senior next season.

I believe Ethan will be a junior next year.  I think he is a serious redshirt candidate if Kadeem Green is granted the right to play after fall semester.

Sad to hear this. I sat next to his family at one of the games this year, and they were really nice people. I hope he can get his grades right. I can't say I'm an expert based on chatting with his family during one game, but I imagine he's a good kid who probably just needs to adjust to college and get his priorities in order.

Hope it all works out.  The more he plays, the better he'll get.  It's all about the minutes here.

At least for THIS year and THIS tournament, I think Goard will have ZERO effect on how we end up.  JG may shorten the bench a bit in in the first place and TJ will simply take Goards minutes, which probably would've been 5 or under.  Goard could very well be very good long term, but right now he's our inbound defensive specialist.  Nice to have, but shouldn't be a tournament breaker.

Wonder if Kenny decides to come to the tournament or if he's busy?

I meant he could be like kvk, when he was a senior and improve greatly.  Jacobs will be a jr next yr.

I stand by that. He gets less minutes than David McKinley. And thats not a knock on mckinley. We could find some tall guy living on South Beach and give him a scholarship based on free covers to Dave Rave and get the same production

I don't get it either... finals don't even start until Monday. If he wasn't in trouble at the beginning of the quarter I don't understand how he's in trouble now. Maybe there was a reason he couldn't miss the last couple days of classes?
