Cooper had a great game, no doubt. But when we were up 8 and had missed a shot we got the rebound and had a new shot clock. Rather than using some time DJ did throw up a wild shot which missed. He went down on the floor and Akron had a 5 on 3 I think. That was the start of them whittling away at the lead.
Yeah, it's easy for me to second guess. But after 34 games, when you're the floor leader, you'd think milking the clock at that stage would be the likely choice. I'm sure his intent was to go for the jugular and get us up 10 -- but given the lower percentage shot he took that wasn't the best option.
And you think that should be the focus of the article? Not that he was clearly the most dominant player on the floor last night? Not the 8 straight points he scored when the game was 51-50, including huge back-to-back steals, that stretched the lead to 59-52? It's one play where he was clearly trying to draw a foul and probably should have gotten the call that should be the focus.
Frankly,I was getting more aggravated when we kept letting the shot clock get down to 10 before running the offense with five minutes to go.
