I think Hawkins has received a long term extension.  WMU has been a HUGE disappointment so far this season.

Through Sunday's games, 12th in Sagarin and 13th in RPI. 25-27 against D-1 schools, 25-16 if you subtract WMU and NIU. I think we expected bad things from NIU but not from WMU. The good news is that Toledo appears headed in the right direction in Year 2 of Kowalczyk.

3-0 night against D-1 teams brings the MAC's record to 30-31. MAC is #12 in Sagarin and #13 in RPI. Ohio is 48 in Sagarin and 16th in RPI. I use http://www.udpride.com/images/rpi.htm for RPI as I've found it to be more reliable than Realtime RPI in the past. Not sure what the differences are between the two.

Ohio drops to 26 in the RPI with the win, now 37th in Sagarin. After 4-4 day, MAC is 35-36 against D-1. Ranked 13th in RPI and 12th in Sagarin.

Bad day for the MAC yesterday. Akron gets blown out for the second straight game this time by Middle Tennessee (176) and BG losing to Western Kentucky (241). MAC down to 16 in RPI.

2-0 night gets the MAC to 37-38 vs. D-1 opponents. Good for 14th in RPI and 12th in Sagarin. Ohio is 35th in RPI and 43rd in Sagarin. Oakland is 77th in RPI and 88th in Sagarin. Big opportunity for the Bobcats tonight.

As the power teams start playing each other and we start losing conference games, that RPI will dip quite a bit. I wish we had more games like Louisville to see what we're really made of. I agree with an earlier post that we should play 2 for 1's with WVU and the like. I would rather play at WVU or WVU at Charleston than a home game with Morgan State,

I like the fact you think we're just going to lose a bunch of conference games. But the RPI doesn't take into consideration who you're beating or to whom you're losing. I don't know why everyone thinks it does.

And Kent State played a schedule roughly the same as ours in 07-08 and finished with an RPI of 22.

If Ohio keeps winning at a similar rate and the team's Ohio has played keep winning at a similar rate, Ohio's RPI isn't likely to change too much. As it stands, Ohio's strength of schedule won't drop much going from non-conference play to conference play, especially playing the East teams twice and the West teams only once.

Why is it a given that we are going to lose a lot of conference games?

So just to be clear, your position is you feel we should play more games against power conference opponents?

Really you should just come up with one post and copy and paste it into every thread...would save you some time.

Marshall just finished destroying a very good Iona team, 82-63.  That should give us a little boost.

The MAC East would be #11 in RPI (.5262) just behind the WCC and ahead of CUSA.  The MAC West would be #30 (.4429) just behind the Independants (Cal State Bakersfied, Longwood, Seattle & Nebraska-Omaha)

I remember doing this comparison last year.  It really is startling, isn't it?

The sad part is that the West seems so much better this year but Western is unexpectedly bringing them down.   If Miami were even having an average year for them the East would have come in at 8th in RPI.
