Jaylin & Dwight are both out and neither Wiz or Sheldon are in...exactly what I and many others have called for. Miles running the point and Clayton playing more committed to the paint...And the results are tremendous. Let's see if we can keep this up.

Hate to say it, but tonight’s lead feels like an addition by subtraction. I'm not sure we have the lead with the “usual” rotation.

Why it took 30 games and an illness for this staff to figure this out, I have no idea. But this has to be the rotation for the rest of the year. Can’t go back. It’s amazing how more efficient this team is when Boals doesn’t have to substitute what he’s be been used to substituting at the first TV timeout all season long.

We absolutely don’t and nobody can debate that.

Brutal sequence for Kent. Missed wide open dunk and Jaylin buries the three.

Too many uncontested bunnies and dunks for Kent State. Just glad we left it all out on the floor and if we see them again in Cleveland we’ll have confidence. The Whiz and Sheldon can’t see the floor in Cleveland.

+1 we played our hearts out tonight - very proud of this bunch. Got a feeling we will be overlooked come Cleveland time and we will string some awesome games together. Refs 100% missed that goaltending call in the end. God I hate losing to Kant.

We really let this one go.

Jekyll and Hyde effort tonight. At times I thought this is a team that can make some noise in Cleveland. But then we are prone to dry spells.

Sincere Carry loves our defense at the 3 point line. It can't be too deep in the scout that you can't give him space and have your hands out sideways as he gets into his rhythm.

We couldn't have played better. And we still lost by double digits.

The gulf in talent and athleticism (and defense) is real.

Just weren't tough enough once Kent got those next two baskets after going down 10. Too tense on offense, too loose with the ball.

I've gotta question that. They were up ten with 15:00 to go on the second half and lost the remaining minutes by 19. They could have played better.

I question why we didn't see much of James or Brown down the stretch while we had the joy of seeing Brick Baker get most of the minutes at the end despite the fact he's not one of the best three guards on this team.

The goal tend might have been missed, but I can't be the only one who is a little worn out on the perceived tendency to whine and complain to the officials on what feels like a regular basis to me. That sort of thing can rub off on the players, can't it?

Calling a time out at the end with two seconds left to make a point about that? C'mon.

If the referee can see that any part of the ball is below cylinder level or it is OBVIOUS the ball will not make it to the rim, you can't have goaltending.

I would not bet the ranch on that. Gabe would have seen the floor tonight if he hadn't been ill. And, it might have helped just a tad, but probably not enough to make a difference in the outcome. We just don't have the athleticism of the top MAC schools, though I think AJB and EJ might be in that class, but they too inexperienced for it to show up in a big way yet.

Just home from the game. Nice Bobcat turnout.

Game lost in the second half with 4 straight errors/turnovers.

Refs sucked giving the two charging fouls to the leagues best Actors taking falls.

When Carry was knocked to the ground on a great basket continuation and got the and one, he and Roderick crashed below the baseline. A Kent teammate walked over the full length of Roderick to get to Carry. Isn't that an auto T when a player needlessly straddles a player like he is going to dedicate in his face?

Additionally, Baker gets ridden down to the ground by the jumping Kent player landing on him right under the basket. How is that not a 2 shot foul as Baker would have been going up to shoot had he not been mauled.

And Country, Baker was the Bobcats MVP in the 2nd half. Had he not busted into the paint and made three nice jumpers the score would have really gotten out of hand. Baker also hustled for some rebounds. Elmore and AJ are much worse than Clayton in jacking up threes too quickly.

Credit Kent. That defense in the last 10 minutes was smothering. And they really found the open man for easy baskets.

I wold have loved to see Wiznitzer put some body on their big. Wiz was missed especially since Dwight was gassed.

Lastly, a Kent student sank a half court shot off the glass for $10,000!!!!

One of the most valuable coaching lessons I ever got was from former OU volleyball coach Lynn Davidson. I had taken the Athens varsity to a team camp at OU and after a pretty touch match, she caught up with me and basically said get your stuff together because your kids watch ever move you make when you're coaching. What you do whether it's positive or negative affects each and every one of your kids. Controlling your emotions as a coach is paramount to success in the long term. From that day forward especially in matches, I tried to keep as even a keel as possible and I have to say, it worked.

The Carry play was not correctly called. That should have been a spot foul. Only in the NBA can you count that basket.

The Baker play was correctly called. Simply put, the illegal contact did not occur with Baker in his upward shooting motion. We know he intended to go up, but he didn't begin an ascent before the foul.

Agree with both of these assessments. On the Carry And-one, I said the same thing here in my living room. He had not started his shooting motion when the foul occurred, though he may have been thinking of shooting at that moment. I've seen way too many "thinking of shooting" situations being called "in the act" fouls in recent years.
