Frazier in the portal. Does that free up another spot?

Just crazy how some of these kids go from one college to another, some seemingly every year. And yes, it would be crazy if they were just students and not athletes.

It doesn't, but I was hoping he would pan out and rejuvenate his playing career at Ohio.

Interesting thread on the Miami board - if Wally Szczerbiak was at Miami in today's climate, would he transfer?

Ah. Well, if he wasn’t on scholarship and we’re clearly in the market for a new PG, I can understand why he’d seek that out.

Kind of saw this coming with our search for a point guard AND four frosh guards coming in. According to Verbal Commits Frazier was apparently on a scholly? Not sure if he really is.

I do believe we can take this to mean the coaching staff doesn't think Frazier can be The Man at the point. Wouldn't he stay if he thought he could have Sears' spot?

Two scholarships open now, right? Again, I HATE this transfer portal stuff, but I must admit it's intriguing watching the hoops version of musical chairs. Sadly, I do believe there are gonna be some really good players who will be left standing when the music stops...

If we have two open, that would make more sense of the supposed interest in Jordan Nesbit (SLU wing, since committed elsewhere) and Sylla (D2 POY).

So will that be 3 schools in 12 months for Luke? As if we hadn’t already, we’ve crossed the line into “ridiculous” territory!

We never even got “to know ya Luke.”

Is Lunden McDay in the portal? If not, is he still a student at OHIO? Could he be coming back to play the point?

Or he just doesn't want to play basketball anymore, period.

Have not seen an announcement and I don't think Lunden has any social media.

Looking at the portal this afternoon, some guys are having to "settle."

Not sure these destination were what they had in mind upon entering the portal but here's where some are are going:

Mississippi University for Women (not a joke - this is what it says)
Georgia Highlands
Lander
Carson-Newman
Williston
Flagler
Seminole State
Western N.M.
Francis Marion
Johnson C Smith
Cumberland

This is not to imply that none are going to end up at Big10 or SEC schools... a few are. And there are some decent mid-majors listed.

It's also possible that these players may have found perfect homes and will be ten times happier. The best situation isn't necessarily the shiniest. Ask Buzz Anthony (Randolph-Macon) or Ryan Turell (Yeshiva), both of whom could have easily succeeded at the D1 level, if they are happy with the choices they made.

Well, you have to give them credit, they own up to their sordid past. Click on this link and then forward past the first few pages that deal mainly with the integration of Ole Miss and general Mississippi civl rights issues. There you'll find a no-holes barred look at their own institution's segregated history and their attempts to extend it in the days after Brown v. Board of Education. I'll give them a "A" for transparency, and an "F" for their racist past.

During my first visit to the Deep South, a few weeks after graduating from Ohio in 1967 and before starting Army service, we were driving west from Georgia. At the Alabama line there were two signs. One showed the route number. The other read The George C. Wallace White Way. That was among several cultural jolts.

Yep, the "White Way", was a real thing. Hasn't been that long since the sign came down.

If Turell is Orthodox, then he should be thrilled that he was at Yeshiva. They don't schedule games from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Yet, there are NBA scouts interested in him. He might get picked up as an undrafted free agent.

Elsewhere, Gabe Dorsey originally from Pennsylvania (6-6 wing) who had offers from Vandy, Penn State, Xavier, Providence, Wake Forest, etc just hit the portal.
