Obviously we have Akron playing in the NIT (5th seed taking on Northwestern).  But Kent, Buffalo, BG, and Toledo are all playing in the CIT.  I am pretty surprised by BG and shocked by Toledo.  Also surprised that all 4 are playing in the CIT and none in the CBI.  They could just make a MAC region.

I could really see Buffalo winning that CIT tourney.

Agreed.  And big ups to Toledo.  Knew last year they'd be on the way up -- tremendous value to some extra practice time there.  I expect they'll improve some more next season.

are the home sites for the CIT not determined by the better overall record?  Because I've got to think that of all the MAC teams that made this tournament, Toledo would have been the last to get a home game.

No, you have to pay to be given a home game.  If I recall you have to guarantee a gate of $40K or something like that.

I'm going to take my boys to the Buffalo-American game on Wednesday.  American is only about 3 or 4 miles from my house.

Tip times and networks are determined after the matchups are determined.

Interesting to see Butler in the CBI vs THe Blue Hens also in is Pitt

We have played these much to the dismay of fans here but it seems no one on the Buttdogs board has a contrary word to say save ironically for this Butler fan. with the moniker 740OHIOBulldog  ..how weird is that?

We SHOULD be in the NIT.. IMO...I don't care what you can argue or say, we are better than the freaking CBI and other garbage tourneys.

I'd expect the winners of our Friday night session (Ohio/Michigan vs Temple/USF/CAL) would tip around 3pm to 3:30pm EST on Sunday.

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing that up. I couldn't wrap my head around why Kent and Buffalo were going on the road when they were clearly better than Toledo.

I'll take Akron, Toledo, and Kent to advance. I don't get the love for Northwestern. Seems to be a good matchup for Akron.

ESPN was beating the Northwestern drum for a long time and they are always a sentimental favorite.  I like Akron as well.  I like Buffalo taking out American.

If Evan Eschmeyer couldn't get the Wildcats to the tournament, isn't it just a lost cause at this point for Northwestern? Why is Carmody spilling his sweat and tears in Evanston? Move on, man.

Totally agree.  Which is why, despite how difficult it is to do so normally, I'm rooting for Akron tonight.  I'm sick of hearing about teams from "power" conferences that can't even produce winning records in said conferences.  I'd argue very strongly that UConn doesn't belong in the NCAA as an at-large either, and that a number of teams including Drexel deserved a shot more than they did.  I wish they'd make a selection rule that stipulates you can't get an at-large with a losing conference record.

A lot of good games tonight.   Toledo with an excellent start, up 34-24 with just under 3 to go in the first half.

Marshall got screwed. Mid Tenn State is a good team. Marshall should have been the #1 seed in the tournament and they get a #5 playing a tough team on the road.  Ah karma.

McNeese State closes on a 10-2 run to get within 36-34.  Let's go Rockets.

Toledo pulling away 64-51.

I'm watching Stony Brook-Seton Hall.   For anybody that remembers the Maurice Pearson thread in the Recruiting forum the kid that beat him in the Maryland State Championship Game, Tommy Brenton, is Stony Brook's best player. He's not a scorer but he is literally everything else.  He would have been a great MAC player.

MAC 1-1 after the 1st day of post-season action.

BGSU and Buffalo begin play tonight in the CIT .
I expect a split tonight in these games, prob. BGSU losing.
I will be at the Buffalo game, maybe live updates...
