I have no analysis to give but it tickles my pickle to see this thread pinned at the top of the board every time I log on.

I'm going to steal the Cleveland Indians motto last year real quick:

I'm surprised they have even released a line with Marshall's status still unknown.

I work at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill...I am working in as much Bobcat apparel and discussion as I can here. My co-workers are already sick of me playing "Stand Up and Cheer." Although I did attend UNC for grad school, as a former Bobcat Cheerleader, my alliance is completely with OHIO.  Down here on Tobacco Road, there are alot of Tarheels shaking in their blue sneakers as this Friday approaches. :)   I. CAN'T. WAIT.

If you happen to run into Kendall Marshall, recommend he take his recovery slow. AT LEAST a week of rest

Kendall Marshall injury aside, I'm glad (now) that USF played such a tough game. Their style really frustrated the offense and caused the Bobcats to be patient to get a good shot and for the defense to step up. These are two key attributes that we'll need to beat UNC.

UNC's talent and athleticism will likely cause the same type of disruptions, but thanks to the USF game, I think the Bobcats will be better prepared.

This and I am curious if UNC is on spring break this week. I like that our guys have an "open" schedule for the week.

**found my answer, their spring break ended last week.

Carolina will be tough to prepare for due to the Marshall situation.  Roy Williams may have to completely overhaul the offense if Marshall can't play.  It's not as if White can just step in and do the same things Marshall does for 40 minutes.

Probably worth showing our team the Florida State drubbing of NC by 33 back in January just to prove that the Mighty can fall mightily.

I thought, for a moment that since we were playing UNC that the game would be on CBS. No such luck.
Also means that Kellogg won't be doing our game either.
Clark will be real nervous again during our game, especially if we have a chance. I'm sure they will do some live look ins.

The Marshall injury is huge for us.  With Marshall, we were looking at having to score 70+ points to stand a chance against UNC.  Their pace of play is just so fast that they put up a ton of points.  Before Marshall was inserted into the lineup last year, they had trouble scoring consistently.  Maybe we will see more of the same this weekend?

The big advantage for UNC is obviously their size.  Depending on who plays the point for them, their starting lineup could be as big as 6'5''(Watts), 6'7''(Bullock), 6'8''(Henson), 6'11''(Henson), and 7'0''(Zeller).  Henson and Zeller will cause problems for us on the offensive glass and will give our bigs fits on offense if they don't take it to the basket aggressively.  They are not what I would consider a 3-point shooting team, but Bullock and Barnes have the ability to step out and hit from long range.

Even with all that length, UNC is not a very good defensive team (aside from blocking shots) and can be scored on it chunks.  They usually respond to such scoring by getting out of the fast break after makes by the other team, lead by Marshall.  I like our chances a lot more if they are forced to play a more half-court type game with Marshall being out.  The keys to this game is keeping them from getting out and running, and rebounding as a team.  If we are not focused on getting rebounds, Zeller and Henson could combine for 20 offensive rebounds on us.

Living in the Triangle area of NC, I will have to listen all week to the talking heads discuss UNC's opponent in the Elite Eight (already had to hear it some today).  I doubt that Roy Williams will allow his team to look ahead.

Hate to put any stock into what the talking heads on ESPN have to say about OHIO as if we did, we would have been eliminated in game #1.  It was however interesting to hear the analysis today regarding Marshall's injury.  ESPNU show guys said UNC could advance passed OHIO by simply pounding it inside, but would probably lose to Kansas.

On the other hand, Doug Gottlieb said that without Marshall UNC may not be able to get passed OHIO and would certainly not get passed Kansas.  He reiterated that beating OHIO without Marshall would not be an easy task for UNC.  I haven't followed UNC at all this year, but despite having 3 lottery guys they say, they're not the same team without this guy?

If Marshall does play, you gotta have Stevie & DJ harrassing him 90 feet and making him go right the entire game.  In fact, despite the size issues we already have, I'd consider playing Stevie extended minutes just to harrass him and not worry if he fouls out or not.  No matter what, you gotta think Marshall is going to have a hard time handling the ball with his right hand no matter how well he bounces back from surgery?

I love the lack of respect we're getting from the talking heads and from reading sosme of the tar heel boards. It sounds exactly like Gtown 2010.

Only difference with that is that 2010 Georgetown was our first game and no one had heard of us yet.  This is the sweet 16.  Their fans are overlooking us but I can guarantee that the coaching staff and players of UNC will not follow suit.

Agree with you, George ... I'm almost hoping he does try to play because I think he might be more of a liability trying to play with the injury than a help to UNC.

What does it matter? If we beat them, we beat them. It's NORTH CAROLINA - any win against them is huge.

I don't think people picking UNC over a 13 seed is any disrespect to Ohio.

This would be one of the great upsets in NCAA tournament history.

Ohio has the capability with a hot shooting night of doing it, but I'm not bashing people who think UNC will roll.

They very well could beat any team in the nation by 25 points if they're firing on all cylinders, with Marshall.

This is house money. Just go out and try to stun the world.

bobcat72.........
Beating UNC at full strength means that there are no excuses, ie their best player didn't play due to injury.
One should not conclude from my comment that winning Friday without Marshall would not be a great feat.
However, in todays world there seems to be asteriks after many accomplishments, ie home run records in baseball etc.
