Actually, he has had feelers from Big Time programs.  He hasn't pursued them.

I said Top 20 program. Ohio State. Michigan. Penn State.

He's been there, done that.  He doesn't want to do that gig again.  He likes that fact that in Athens he has an AD and a prez who've "got his back."  He didn't have that at Nebraska.

I like how people profess adoration for a guy and then three days later want him to be ushered out of town in a Hannibal Lector mask and straight jacket.

No offense, but John Groce isn't going to be recruiting two-star players any more.

That's how things go when you leave one place for another in any business.  Especially when it is to another company within that business you don't get to run the halls like you did when you were still employed by that company.  You get your card board box and leave.  Remember seeing Knorr when he was fired at the grocery store asking for boxes to move.  This no different.  If thing don't end badly they will never end!  We are just the ugly girl in this break up.  Good Luck JG.

Accusing him of tampering is much different than what you just posted.

I have seen it happen at other programs players leave with the coach.  I just wanted to know if our AD had a procedure for an exiting coach to prevent tampering.  JG gave us some good memories, but he is no longer OU.  And should be treated as such.  Good luck JG.

If Jim Schaus is worried about John Groce tampering, he shouldn't have let Groce coach  this team for the last four years.

Recruiting in college sports is dirty business and no one is clean if the NCAA starts digging.  NCAA could have found dirt on Mother Teresa.  Simple question about procedure that's all.

Crazy tangent:

I hate these type of photos. A guy could be looking at the ground and if his team loses, it's retroactively him in despair and it's on ESPN.com and the front of USA Today.   He's looking down, in reality. He could be wondering what he's going to eat after the game.

End of crazy tangent.

True story.  But, Ivo actually changed his twitter avatar to this after popular request when Groce left.  Real or imagined, even he is using it as a symbol of his sadness over this situation.

Those that are saying Groce has acted out of line have never been in any kind of negotiation more complex than the purchase of a car.  They have also probably never met him.

It is impossible to be considered for a job like that and not have it be a public situation.  It is also bad business to make everything public (even if people are speculating what is going on) until the deal is done.  Once the deal was completed, he is now telling his players.  They are hearing it from him face-to-face before any public announcement is made.  He did things in the right order.

His players love him.  The athletic department staff loves him.  The community loves him.  Many of you (particularly the cancer of the message board Blitz) are acting like he has been in Vegas with a pack of hookers for the past 3 days.  Groce did not cheat on Ohio.

Funny how people try and "spin" Groces departure. And btw ...STFU stands for  Sweet Tea From Uganda...great stuff you should try some!!!
This should have and could have been handled with more class..Coach did a great job this year however this all went down like he wanted to be on the 1st thing smoking out of Athens and to have your players wondering what your status is like that is UGLY. Props to the players that still supported Coach even when they were in the dark!! Classy guys!
