Actually if you read the article he says "Ohio University" and "The Bobcats". He actually calls it like it says on your university web site
"Ohio University" at the very top where it says "Ohio University". He has been calling Ohio State "Ohio" for along time (over 40 years) so it isn't something new. It is new to most because he is the head coach at Michigan now.
Also you cannot make somebody just say "Ohio" for your university ... sorry it was a state first (which I live in) before it was ever a college so you cannot sue somebody for saying the word "Ohio". Also hard to sue somebody when he says actually what your college recognized as "Ohio University" and your mascot is the Bobcat.
Anytime somebody says "Ohio" they could mean several things such as the state, the river, the college, etc.
Like the original post stated it is getting you a lot more pub than ever and people might start thinking there is another college in the state besides the one in the middle of the state -- Ohio State which is a good thing. It would actually be nice if some of the other colleges in the state would raise their level and start competing with Ohio State such as Cincinnati and all the MAC programs.
Looking through many of the posters here you would think some would have a problem with the usernames here as well. I hardly see many that have "Ohio" in them, but I have seen a lot of "OU", "Bobcat", "Cat", etc...
As others have mentioned in previous threads many people who have went there previously still call it "OU". One of our writers for our site went to Ohio University, was a member of the 1970 baseball team and he says when they have their alumni gatherings that everybody calls it "OU".
Your getting a lot of pub about this and probably just as much as your last incident that made the news
Was looking at some of the stories getting some information from the official "University of Ohio" web page and found this interesting. Are they sending mixed message as well?
