We could always schedule UM-Kansas City. Playing and beating another kangaroo based team would be fine by me.

I might be missing a huge point here, but what is the big deal about a KC or Chicago game?

And...Chicago has an large Ohio alumni network and...I need to see some Bobcat bball next year...AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE CITY TO DO SO!

UIC has a nice little arena - Loyola has a better zip code - the old arena on the DePaul campus has the best location...but that old barn in Evanston is the perfect venue for a Wild vs Bob cat fight.  I would also support playing Valpo - a bit of a hike - but doable.  Get it done!

Armon Gates is at Loyola.

You and borna might appreciate this brief audio clip of the legendary Red Rush calling the last several seconds of Loyola's 1963 OT victory over Cincinnati for the national championship.  Though I had rooted for UC the previous two years, in 1963 I was firmly in the Loyola camp, as I had seen them play in Athens earlier in the year and had won a free haircut from my barber on a bet that the Nate Thurmond and Howard Komives-lead BG would give them their first loss of the year.  Loyola only lost two games that year -- the aforementioned one to BG and a late season loss to Wichita State.  Jim Snyder and George Ireland, the Loyola coach, were good friends and we played the Ramblers quite regularly back in those days.  Ok, enough already, here's the clip: Red Rush.

Here's the whole Loyola story, with their complete schedule and results for that year.  Note that they played Ohio twice that year -- home and away.  They did that a number of times in those days.  It was a great series.

Ohiocatfan, that is good stuff! We played the Ramblers at the old Alumni Cage on their campus is 1978. What a surreal experience. A true bandbox and what a home court advantage for them.

It would be helpful if we could limit the discussion to the actual schedule.

There are gonna be about 30 games, Jim Schaus isn't going to ask our preference about who Ohio plays but he'll do his best to balance wins, payouts and resume building and about 70 percent of the games are locked in by conference affiliation or contracts. Fascinating discussion.

Not sure, but when/if Ohio does the O Zone should sit in their student section, I heard about that crap they pulled this year's game, and that's just plain wrong...

my brother ran Cross and Track at LU 76-80 so we were able to get tix for that era. Still had to sit with your feet pulled in so the players would not trip down in the corner. Great era to watch there too with Sappleton, Alfredrick Hughes, Sp(r)ewer. Larry Knight and Haywood....can't remember his last name.....just that at the parties everyone would finish the sentence..."Haywood"....group response "ya get me a beer?" Funny at the time but sounds like drunk party stuff now...

Gentile Center has been redone and looks pretty good these days. Jason Gardner is up there also as an asst working with guards and one of our Muncie Central kids is headed that way. I would like nothing more than to see DJ head to Chi along with Russ and head on up to Hamiltons before the game. As discussed though Northwestern at the place I saw many of the concerts of the late 70's would be one to win for a guaranteed RPI/SOS bump.

Me too....... when OUr department gave me tix 3 rows from the top of the stadium. One of the Pitt guys I knew hooked me up. Pitt fans were very accommodating and DJ's gramps was just down the aisle with a great big smile

I wasn't able to make that game, but I understand the visitors brought quite a few fans to the game. Nice, considering the students were on break and the extra money that must have added to our Athletic Dept.

Rock ChalkTalk   jayhawk.services@live.com Need a small D2 school to come into our town, Kansas City, Missouri, and beat the feathers out of us in the Sprint Center so we can once again assert our dominance over OUR city. Any time during the season works. The media hacks will still keep us in the Top 25 no matter what. 2012-2013 2012-04-

pretty sure this one is not for real but the Iowa Home and home looks pretty interesting. And Depaul has a date open......

See where Illiniois has some openings too!  You're playing Thad next year, why not go "All In" and play OHIO Mr. JG?

Not looking at  anything but the money and keep the games within 350 miles.

Throw the boys to the wolves in the pre-MAC time and cash in some change from their outstanding March efforts.

Give Big M Go Blue their opportunity for revenge in Ann Arbor--paying OHIO big $$$

Head out to DJ Land for money game vs Northwestern & H&H vs DePaul

Pick up the offer from Butler for a game.

Don't pay money on 12/22 but take the dough and stomp the Buckeyes.

Then hold a non-tournament Holiday headquarters in a fancy Pittsburgh hotel, where both Pitt and Duquesne are offering cash and head out to State College to complete the football/basketball sweep in 2012 for the nice one-two payday.

Thanks for posting the link to the classifieds, interesting to see.

bornacat - I would LOVE to grab a home and home with DePaul.  Iowa on the road is a worthy game as well.  I like both of those.  Is there any legitimacy to that site?

MonroeClassmate - I can't gather your tone at all, so I have no idea if you're being serious or sarcastic, but I'm not sure I like your premise.  Why would we go for money only games?  We're likely to make some money next year on (hopefully) increased attendance.  Playing murderer's row does nothing for anyone.

I'd be thrilled if we did about half of what MonroeClassmate suggests. There's also some value to scheduling some home games and some less stellar opponents to make sure we're growing the W/L record along with the RPI and the bank account.

I'm with you HeHate.  I like the Northwestern and DePaul suggestions.  I'd also take the Butler game.  The Pennsylvania tournament thing sounds like a pipe dream.  I see no value in playing Michigan again, especially in Ann Arbor.  It's a lose/lose scenario.  If we beat them, everyone knows what they know right now, and that we're superior.  If we lose, then our tourney win looks like a fluke.  And I'd be all for playing the Buckeyes, except that they would never have that.

I think it would be pretty sweet if we could get a Big East school to come to the Convo while the students are still here during the fall semester.  I think we could get a middle-of-the-road team like Rutgers, Seaton Hall, Providince, or De Paul to at least do a home and home, possibly a 2-for-1 favoring them if we could get them to come here next year.

Pitt also would be a good candidate.  After having a pretty sub-par season by their standards, they could be looking to schedule a more challenging mid-major.  They look to be improving vastly from last year, especially with Zeigler coming in after he sits out a year.

2 a-10 UMass, SBU
1 WCC portland
1 Big South Winthrop
1 CUSA Marshall

The selection commitee was loud and clear about SOS. With a team built for a NCAA tournament run. I would really focus on home and home series with teams like Belmont, VCU, Drexel, Detroit, Butler, Cleveland State, Missouri State, Murray State, Siena, Fairfield, Iona,  Old Dominion, George Mason. Solid games and avoid the potential 300 plus rpi games that destroy rpi.   Play historically solid midmajors and avoid the Kennesaw's and Tenn-Martin who were winless in their leagues. Save that crap for rebuilding years when you gotta try to avoid a 20 loss season.
