Yeah, subtle is not your strong suit.  There's no place here for columbus-centric.  If you need help figuring that out, pm me at noonecares#brutusgottossed.

He was giving insight on a player who might be of interest to us. I think you are way out of line on this one. And I hate OSU as much as anyone here.

Read up on what Wisconsin is doing to the kid from Iowa who wants to transfer.  That should not be legal in the United States.

I can understand having the Big ten off limits - ACC makes no sense and adding Iowa St to the list is simply telling the kid to go F@@@ himself.

What is the rule with respect to him going to a school (e.g., Iowa) and walking on and paying his own way.  Can Wisc. stop that?

The resident ohio state fan chimes in.

There are other places for this.

We're discussing student-athletes that could or could not help out OUr team.  What 'other places' do you have in mind for this conversation?  Thanks for the insight on the topic at hand though.  It was very well thought out and added a lot to this thread . . .

I find Monroe's unwavering hatred of all-things-O$U inspirational. And I use varying font-size and color to show my camaraderie.

I hate to agree with making this mean spirited but as a cbus resident i can tell any O$U message board would be treating a bobcat way worse.

I dont think the Matta coaching tree has much to do with tO$U per se. It has to do with Matta at Butler, X, Stupid Cow. Besides Groce who has left A&M?

Matta headcoach at Butler 1 year, 3 years at  X,  7 at OSU.  Look at all the asst. that have went on to better jobs.  I do believe it was the success in recruiting and the style of play of Matta that has made the Asst. be wanted.  Which is also tied to the success of OSU.  Groce left , as have others, haven't heard any comments about the Groce tree, just that he came thru Matta.   So per se,  it has a lot to do with him at OSU and his success there.

Alllright y then ......

COaching tree is as follows

Coaches who worked for Matta at Butler have been hired for head coaching positions at University of Iowa and Butler University. Sean Miller worked for Matta for three years at Xavier and was hired as head coach when Matta left, then took the head coaching job at University of Arizona. The success of Matta's staff at Ohio State was acknowledged by Ohio University in 2008, when former Buckeyes Associate Head Coach John Groce was chosen to lead that program, and who has since been tapped to lead the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. In 2010, former Buckeyes assistant coach Alan Major, who had also worked with Matta at Xavier, was named the head coach at Charlotte. In 2011, Sean's brother Archie Miller, another former Ohio State assistant, got the job at the University of Dayton.

Archie did come from Ohio State but has rather less ties to Ohio State and a more nomadic situation.

Ryan "Archie" Miller, (born October 30, 1978 in Beaver Falls), is the head men's basketball coach of the University of Dayton Flyers. He was hired to his first head coaching job on April 3, 2011 after having spent two years as an assistant to his brother, Sean Miller, at Arizona.[1] Arizona hired Joe Pasternack to replace him. Prior to his time in Arizona he was an assistant to Thad Matta at Ohio State, and to Herb Sendek at Arizona State and North Carolina State. He was also a standout point guard at NC State from 1999-2002.

I am not seeing where the Ohio State job plays the biggest role as of this writing in his coaching tree.

As you state, all but Sean were with him at  OSU.  So the place he coached the most years at with the most success (OSU)  would not have anything to do with it?  It is all because of his years at Butler and X?   Makes sence to me.  Groce, Majors and Miller were all at OSU when they took other jobs.

Was at OSU when he went to Arizona to work for his brother.  So yea I guess the Sean Miller coaching tree got the job at Dayton.  Just not into the logic that everything except Matta at OSU was why all of them and maybe future hires from his staff  would not have something to do with the success of Matta at OSU.  Just not into hating OSU.

We have had some good success with transfers from Ohio State with Stonerook and Offutt. If he is talented enough to play in the Big Ten, then he should be a good fit in the MAC. Should be a good team with lots of postseason experience.

2013-2014 projected lineup

sf  Hall sr

Don't forget Todd Lickliter who had success at Butler before flaming out at Iowa and Brad Stevens who clearly has been successful at Butler. Both men worked on Matta's pre-OSU staffs.
