Choosing a Coach to keep a junior around for his senior year is kind of short sited isn't it.  If we chose Ford and he does awesome with this team next year but has a hard time recruiting the following years and goes .500 or worse over the next 3, we will all be calling for the AD's head for hiring someone who was not ready.  If I knew Christian's was in the hunt for a job would have been up there with Boals and Ford.  Will be a good hire!  I hope DJ stays, but only time will tell.

I agree 100% - hopefully he stays, but if he wants out he wants out.

You are such a fool. Players often leave programs when the coach who recruited them move on or are fired. And if it happens, you're going to take credit for dropping a bomb. You are totally delusional in your sense of self importance.

Odds did just jump that DJ will leave..are you a complete IDIOT can you not see the forest thru the trees?? At least the new coach has some time to hopefully keep the team intact. I dont think DJ has to rush and make a move but this summer will say a lot.

why would you call someone an "IDIOT" because they have a different opinion than you? what are you, retarded?

Hate me now BRING IT. No seriously this was just put out there by someone online associated with athletics. Dj would have to red-shirt but is this something he would do?? I like Stevie but is he ready for a whole season starting? Pretty sure the coaching choice affects this and or Groce offering DJ a spot.

according to your first post this wasn't even your thought

funny how you are running with it and taking credit - sorry to tell you, but every bobcat fan had the same thought when we first found out Groce was leaving.  Not sure why people on this board need to be coddled.

There is no scoreboard on Bobcatattack.com - or at least one I am aware of

Great  Players leave mediocre programs for "greener pastures" all the time your right. Ohio coming off a Sweet 16 almost upset of the second best team in college basketball should NOT have to worry about ANY players leaving unless it's to the NBA. Like I said someone dropped the ball somewhere hopefully this new coach can pick it up. Right now the odds are in favor of Cooper leaving and that is my opinion of course. If you dont like it read another thread or write your wife a love letter.

Guys hes not going to transfer to Illinois and sit out 1 year to play 1 year. The real danger here is Europe.

No one thinks there is a possibility he puts his name in the draft without retaining an agent?

Yeah, he tweeted he is catching a flight to Houston this morning and that he will only be there for a few hours.  Which means he won't be around for the reported team meeting this morning.

If he is in Houston this morning, it has nothing to do with the hiring of Christian.  If it has to do in anyway with leaving Ohio, it had to have been set-up last week - when Boals and Ford were both considered in the running. Which means, if it has to do with leaving Ohio, he was not going to give any new coach a chance (which makes little sense).  Let's see how it plays out.

I'll save him the time and suggest he rewatch the UNC game tape.  D.J. Cooper is a really good college basketball player who just doesn't have an NBA body.  I would be absolutely shocked if he goes anywhere.

None of this speculation puts DJ's intelligence in particulary high praise.

Don't you think he understands that one more season cements himself amongst the Ohio greats?  He'll have his degree, and he'll all but guarantee that #5 will be hanging in the rafters if he sticks around.

If he bolts, all of that is put in danger.

Layover? seems like an odd place for a connecting flight from chicago to athens, but stranger things have happened.

Houston is not that far from Dallas-Fort Worth.  Don't think he's meeting with Christian in an undisclosed location?  Or, would that violate some NCAA regulation?

Considering Christian is in the Convo shooting hoops, um, you're not even close.

Maybe he's transferring to play alongside Akeem Olajuwon for the 1983 Houston Cougars.

And for what it's worth, if that were true, it'd still only be the 3rd craziest thing mentioned here.

He's already on campus?  I saw that mentioned, but thought it was a joke.  Sorry, I guess I'm still suffering from PGTBS -- Post Groce Traumatic Brain Syndrome.

Here's something even crazier.

J'Covan Brown of Texas just declared for the draft. UT now has an opening and needs a pg.

Cooper always seemed to me like a young man mature beyond his years with a very good head on his shoulders.  I really don't think the kid is going to do anything rash.  I'm 99 percent sure he'll be back in the Green & White next season.

I had a layover in Houston on a flight from Miami to Columbus once. Just saying.

If DJ is smart he'll stay here, get back to the Sweet Sixteen and then ride off into the European sunset.  If he does anything other than that, we have Stevie in the wings.
