In these transition situations, 90% of the time those fears are allayed when the players meet the new coaches.  Most players stay most of the time.  I trust Schaus to hire the right guy to keep the ball rolling.

I thought it was more like 60% of the time

Sounds like DJ is in B LOVE's camp for #Coachford

I'm sure most of the players are in that camp. Similarly, most Ohio State football players were in the #CoachFickell camp.

And most Illinois players were asking for their assistant coach.

The dichotomy between Jerrence Howard at Illinois and Dustin Ford at Ohio is strikingly similar. The players and fans at Illinois wanted JH for head coach, especially because he's an alum, and if not HC, then at least on the staff. Similarly, players and some fans want Dustin Ford for HC, especially because he's an alum, and most concede that if he's not HC, then he should at least be on the staff.

Trend among players and fans? Sounds like it. I don't think JS will bump Dustin Ford up, but I could be wrong.

here's an interesting piece of fan fiction from a Zip dreamer that has Cooper unhappy with OU and wanting to either follow Groce or go NBA. Is the "source" the all knowing Blitz?

This does seem to have BlitzkriegCat fingerprints all over it.  I hope DJ hangs 50 on them next year in a crucial "for all the marbles" game.  Maybe a few 3s from half court.

I love how he spams it on seemingly every board but this one. He knows it's crap.

What is that site?

As a reporter, it is frustrating enough to see real sports writers cite anonymous sources.

In the rest of the writing world, if you can't name a source - well, your story goes in the can. Doesn't matter if you know the source personally or how much time you put into the story. But in sports, it is fair game.

To make matters worse, then you have sports bloggers who try to emulate sports journalists by doing the same thing. However, these sources are usually a friend who has junction punch every other weekend instead of someone actually "close to the program."

Grow up bloggers. Just be honest. If it is your opinion that he is leaving, write that. If you have a friend that knows someone who went to OU, write that. Just don't be a loser.

Brilliantly stated. I'll add that it's doubly frustrating that these sites carry the veneer of credibility because they often look like sites that produce actual journalism. Getting news from a site like that is like buying a Rolex on Times Square.

Via the tweet world yesterday, I was informed by an anonymous source that it's thought to be unlikely that Dustin stays here if he's not the HC, and that he'd more likely end up on Groce's staff.

According to the News-Gazette (Illini paper)

"Groce said his future staff at Illinois is "still in flux." He said there "will be some guys coming with me from Ohio" to fill out his staff. The most likely candidate would be Jamall Walker, an Ohio assistant who has extensive recruiting ties in Chicago and St. Louis. He played at St. Louis University and recruited Cooper to Ohio from Seton Academy in South Holland."

And Williams came from DePaul.

Be interesting to see if Ford doesn't go to Illinois based on logistics.

For a school and fan base that claims to not care about Ohio or what we do, I find it pretty comical that the four topics on the basketball board with the most recent posts are all about OUr school, OUr players, OUr run to the sweet 16, and OUr next coach.  Hilarious.

According to Mike, anytime a student goes home for spring break - they are contemplating transferring.

Cooper has been unhappy with what's been going on in the program for quite some time, but he's going with the coach who was in charge of the program, with which he's been unhappy for quite some time.

It would be silly to walk away from a sweet 16 team to go sit on the bench for a year just to be a part of a program that is in flux. Besides, at this point Coop's loyalty is to OHIO, not to any coach. Groce is just a former employee of OU now, but as a student/graduate DJ will be a Bobcat for life, like us.

Cooper has another year to cement his legend and grow his career totals to insure that his name stays in the record books for a long time. Illinois isn't going to hang his jersey in the rafters one day, but we will. In Coop We Trust.

And people wonder why the rest of the MAC think all Ohio fans are whiny cry-babies?? I posted a LEGIT concern and some CORNBALLS CRIED A RIVER..the only player who has directly addressed if he has staying is Mr Offut via twitter,,,DJ Cooper hoped on a plane to Illinois. Now that the whole world is wondering about his plans after I presented the original concern..we can assume that everything hinges on 1.DJ 2.Does Groce want him 3.New Ohio coach. I think things are still up in the air I'm assuming the Cooper family dinner was very interesting this weekend...was Groce there?? Would not surprise me.

Good Lord, you're pathetic. Star player might leave because the coach who recruited him moves on and you act like you're breaking news. (I mean, that's never happened in the history of college sports, has it?) You have to be the most delusional person who ever came on here. You should change your name to Physicist Bobcat Blitz.

He doesnt know whay he's talking about either. Ivo and stevie told woub that they're not going anywhere, Reg said on twitter that hes not going anywhere, dj said on twitter thay hes not going anywhere, ricardo johnson has expressed his hope that we (the cats) meet and beat illinois next year, and, as previously mentioned) walt has said he's not going anywhere.

Quit being such a drama-queen blitzy. If you weren't so consistently wrong, or werent to hyperbolic, or weren't such a jack-you-know-what, youd get mocked less.

I just chuckle when people whine and say  Blitz...please stop with your message board posts..Like I will really stop posting what people are wondering but only a few have the BALLS to say. Nope so how about you NOT READ MY FRIGGN POSTS??? What a GRAND IDEA.  Now back to the topic of the thread...looks like reputable news sources are reporting statements from the players that they are staying..good news but you never really know until it's official.  Looks like Green is locked in unless he wants to sit another year. Oh yeah I actually had DJ Cooper at my house when he was training at the run and shoot in DC. I never ask him about personal matters and honestly athletes hate it when all you want to constantly talk about is their sport, especially at dinner and even then they will tell you what you want to hear.

I don't mind the posts.....but it pains me to think what a douche you are being. Is that really neccessary to get your points across? I read your posts. You really belong on Ibnews, catspause or several other boards where guys are abusive and silly in order to get noticed. This has been a heck of a board, sullying the waters just tells me some things about your personality. I am happy that you have had DJ at your house. Not going there as Gman, Granny cat and many others I know have had quite a few of the kids at their house on a regular basis yet do not feel compelled to let the fanbase know and have never felt the need to discuss what is discussed in private.

I am not impressed by the information you bring and most of it is questions most of the folks on this board have already PM'ed or discussed or have talked to folks around the program anyway. If you think putting this up here in the most vitriolic way possible is your mission then have at it. I have long liked being here and respected the conversations I have had with the athletes over the years respecting them and their privacy. I think you have done DJ a great disservice and shown great disrespect if he has sat in your dining room and yet you then feel compelled to call him out on a message board. I personally do not do that to my friends and people I like enough to serve dinner and have in my house, maybe your parents raised you different.... .

People hope on planes all the time, mainly that it won't crash.
