With all due respect, it's not a crusade (no pun intended, right?). It's all over the news up here. Rightly or wrongly, it affects our alma mater, so it's a valid story. If you don't think it is, then I never want to hear any stories about player arrests on this site again.

How is it affecting OU? I would assume most of the reporting about this story is not including the tidbit that this woman graduated from OU. Is it? How would that info be relevant to the story?

Everyone and their sister knows Allie Laforce is a Bobcat.

This story is getting a lot of press in Cleveland for various reasons.

Various reasons = Because it's gossipy and it helps (tremendously) that she's a hotty. The fact that she's an OU grad? Eh, so what. It feeds into the stereotypical story line that she's a spoiled rich girl, raised by a rich, doting and ignorant mother, and is dating the local sports hero. People love to see that kind of person get torn down to size. Even if she's really not that kind of person, the media will help portray her that way, and too many people will lap up the story. It's high-profile dirt, nothing more.

The Ailes references are appropriate.  Before anyone gets carried away worrying about journalistic ethics and objectivity, remember it is a FOX station that she works for.

And, hey, it's no wonder that "I'm an Indians pitcher" doesn't buy anything when only the player's wives and families are watching Indians' games anyway.  Now, if she was with Chris Perez and this happened - different story.

This whole thread - from post start thru to thread fizzle is definitive proof that there is too long a break from end of basketball season to start of (in lieu of basketball) football season...........

Which made me think - w/all the Hot Topic issues surrounding basketball, football, conference re-alignments, coaching moves, player moves, etc., etc., isn't it incredible how far baseball has fallen (from sport interest perspective, not specifically OHIO)

Well, this is a college board, where football and basketball are king, but Major League baseball still maintains a significant edge in popularity over the NBA and NHL.

I have lots of friends I like to talk baseball with and I prefer to talk baseball more than any other sport. I don't come here to talk baseball much.  In general, I don't watch any NBA, and I only watch the NFL if it's my favorite team or it's the Superbowl. I love both football and basketball, but I follow Bobcat football and hoops religiously as much due to the personal connection to The University as the sports themselves.

Thank you DFC for sticking up for baseball.  I would also add that it differs greatly regionally, and much of the midwest but specifically Ohio and more specifically central Ohio has a lower level of interest in baseball than the average area.

But a LOCAl FOX affiliate is much different than the national cable news network known as FOX NEWS.

Fox 8 Cleveland is a trashy station, I don't consider it with the Fox brand though.  The national Fox people would poke fun at the Cleveland Fox..

WOIO 19 is trashier than all of the other Cleveland stations combined, multiplied by 100.

A trashy Fox station?  Where exactly are the high brow, classy Fox stations?

Personally I think Roger Ailes does more on a daily basis (with respect to journalistic ethics, etc.)  to tarnish the Ohio name/brand than this young lady could ever do by dating an Indians player.

Amen!  I was shocked that there weren't huge protests with lots of signs when this guy showed up Monday evening.  No wonder the powers that be are able to continually get away with what they do - too much apathy.

You should've done something. I'm sure for once the O Zone would've cooperated with you.
