I think Treg will be a very good asset for OUr team.  As has been said, he will have one year to practice with the talent we have coming back learn the system and then three years to play.  The same goes for Willis and Wilkins only each will be for two years playing and one sitting one year.   And trying not to get off  topix like above, but without the transfers of late (2 years ago and last year)  I don't think we would have accomplished what we did.  One will never know.   Just one opinion.

.....which may be why this country is in the shape it is in. When we cherry pick we often fail to get the ideas others are trying to communicate or implicate a meaning which was not intended in the first place.

You went over the deep end with this one.

Yes I guess looking back it was a cherry-picking on my part. Sorry. Am I the New York Times? No. Take a step back from the ledge.

The main point of your first post was that you don't think we should be filling up our team with transfer players. I believe my point about Bassett being our best player is still valid here.

Walt and Jon Smith should also show you that there is no harm in having multiple transfers either.

When you're wrong, you're wrong. Admit it. You failed to read and digest what was in the post. Trying to continue to argue you merely dig a deeper hole. Bassett best player is debatable. Only 2 guys on the team had lower FG percentages than he did. And if you jack up the most shots on the team you're likely to have a decent chance of having the highest PPG average. I guess I measure a student athlete for what they do both on and off the court.

I said I was wrong, and I'm sorry that I misquoted bornacatfan, but if you think I'm wrong because I said Bassett was our best player then you are nuts.

He didn't have our second lowest fg% in the MAC tournament that's for sure.

I have never inferred that he was NOT our best player. I have maintained that the 4 year players deferred to his talent and never got credit for their part in doing that and facilitating him being able to use his talent.

We can talk about the semantics of what is being said all day. Armon was a great talent. he is one transfer player that changed the entire dynamic of the locker room. The OP that I took offense to implied that transfers are the way of the world and we need to adapt. I maintain that transfers are not what you build a program around. 1 or 2 players who fill roles or elevate the talent level are sometimes needed but to look at Goodman's transfer list and say we need to adapt flies in the face of what is actually working in the college basketball world with programs that are on the rise or maintaining excellence. My favorite standard, Butler, will have Rotnei Clarke as a shooter this year. This transfer is an excellent choice and will impact the program positively but they are in no way accepting a new paradigm.

I do believe transfers have a place and many of our transferred have proved to be tremendous assets. I also feel that having 4 transfers in a recruiting class and no true freshman is also an issue. I think utilizing transferrs to fill immediate gaps is one thing, but to bring in only transfers does not bode well for sustained success. I hope to see JC bring in a good 2013 recruiting class filled with with freshman and not filled with tranferrs and JUCOs.

This short-term situation is not ideal and if it were an SOP it would be downright bad, but under the circumstances of recruiting timetables and the disruption of the coaching change, JC was put in a very difficult position. It's not his fault that kids opted out of their verbals for any number of concocted reasons after Groce's departure.
