I gotta say actual in the house attendance was probably only 4500 maybe 5. It was a good enthusiastic 5, but it was around 5. Plenty of empties below the concourse, so probably 2250-2500 lower and maybe same above but of course much more widely scattered.
Russel and Rob said, "Solid 8,000," which I think was a bit high. Your estimate of 4,500 to 5,000 appears a bit low to me. My own estimate was 7,500. It was by far the best week day crowd of the year (at least in games I attended) and was close to some of the better crowds on weekends this year. From where I was sitting, looking toward the student section, the lower bowl was as full as I've seen it for a while. The lower bowl on my side had more empties, that's may be the angle you had, DFC.

I guess we won't know for sure how many were in the house until Al Swank weighs in with his "real estimate" and the higher "Tom Boeh estimate."
8000 is way off, that much I can be sure of. Remember, below the concourse, if every seat is full, is 3000. Less than 1/4 of capacity. 10000 seats are above the concourse. That means, with the empties below (lets say 2500, that means 5500 above. That means more than half full above the concourse. Not even close. 8000 is just not a realistic guess.
You are saying that the lower bowl was no more than 1/4 full? I think that may have been true near where I was sitting, but when I looked over to the other side it looked more like 4/5 full and maybe 1/2 full on the sides. Alan, what was the actual count in The Roundhouse on Richland Friday night?

No I'm saying that the lower bowl represents less than 1/4 of total capacity.

So if there were 300-500 empties below the concourse, which I'm estimating, that means to get to 6500 there'd have to be 4k above the concourse. And there simply wasn't.

I'm not crusading against the ticket vs butts count. I'm just trying to give a real estimate based on facts and the layout of the arena. It's a big circle. Rows at the top have way more seats than rows at the bottom. Geometry and stuff. Miami game was a legit 6500-7, maybe more, and there were way way fewer peeps Friday.

Looks like that blowout was the last straw for Huger.

Hard to believe this team beat us at BG. Falcons certainly looked like a team that didn't want to play on Friday. The Sam Towns behavior is very odd. I mean I get having a chip on your shoulder, but at some point you have to move on and grow up.

This one is done. Ball State on deck.

7,053 was the official count according to ESPN (which I believe gets it from the university).

FWIW 8,322 was official count for Fiami game earlier.

In case you missed it, Sam Towns flipped off the Ohio bench after scoring from the foul line. Boals was pissed.
Towns only scored 6 points tonight
My group thought it was a rated X gesture worse than flipping the bird.
Pardon me? A what gesture?

… like a jerk off motion…? Lol
I couldn't really tell but he did something with his fingers to his mouth, maybe there was a tongue involved, and then gesture to bench, couldn't tell if it was a "kiss" off or a female genetalia reference? It was very pointed taunting however and if a ref had seen it I'm guessing it would have been a T.

I would also love to know more of the Towns backstory. I tried to follow him as much as I could and from what I gather, he and DW3 do NOT get along at all. I can't believe nobody has mentioned DW dunking on him and then rocking the baby back down the court. It was all very enjoyable but it really pains me that he got the satisfaction of the win at BG.

Agree with others that BG was terrible. I met the BG Athletic Director at Broneys pre-game...Nice guy. He had only been on the job 3 months and I wondered if he may have been evaluating a final decision on Huger.

AJ Brown was super aggressive and effective. Hope he gets that smooth shot-creation going at just the right time. I really enjoy how both he & Elmore add that old school dimension of mid-range jumpers.

Clayton's hot streak from behind the arc was awesome, and true to form he followed it up with a cold streak. He and his 3 point shooting is such an enigma...but I still prefer he find a way to be more selective.

Only 7 turnovers and 4 were from DW/Wiz. Hats off to the guards, some great passes to go with taking care of the ball. Roderick had several great hustle plays.

Cleveland is an extremely difficult path, we just have to get hot and stay hot.

Oh and the clock issues to start the game...really frustrating. I don't know the backstory but haven't ever seen anything like that even in HS let alone college.

The clock issues are part of the Ohio tradition, unfortunately. I thought they replaced the time clock system a couple of years ago...but the troubles remain.

Maybe an operator issue.

Seems like him and DW were talking trash all game. He stared us down at the start because someone in our section / band said something to him I couldn't hear - we were pretty brutal to him after he made a gesture to our bench which most of us saw

Might be nothing, might be something, but I noticed something interesting about Towns when he was here. At womens and volleyball games, when groups from the men’s basketball team attended, they always sat as a group. Except Sam Towns. He usually sat by himself or with a non-basketball team friend away from the other guys.

Remember seeing that as well. Thought it was odd at the time - can also remember when Sears was a guest on BobcatTracks, when he was discussing playing videogames / Fortnite with the guys Towns would always try to land them on a risky part of the map and they eventually overruled him after they were killed a few times. I know him and Sears were very tight and Sears transferring maybe could have affected his decision to transfer. I have no clue of what else could have happened but was extremely disheartened to see him gesturing our bench. Clearly there is some beef, but I'm very puzzled as to how it would have started.
