What was the attendance at the Convo tonight?

Looked like 8,000+ from some of the shots online.

Russ said both Ben and Miles have another year but haven't decided whether to return yet. I'm guessing Brown yes, Roderick no.

In case you missed it, Sam Towns flipped off the Ohio bench after scoring from the foul line. Boals was pissed.
Towns only scored 6 points tonight
My group thought it was a rated X gesture worse than flipping the bird. Towns is immature. And BG should be embarrassed.

Somehow Boals still shook Towns hand post game. Probably the most enjoyable handshake for Boals so far this year. 😎

Just killed them. Fun to watch.

That AJ to Hadaway alley oop was big time. I'm hoping Hadaway is a Van Der Plas type...not so much as a frosh but explodes as a sophomore.

Did Hadaway exceed the minimum # of games to redshirt this season?

Classless. Should have been tech'd. Group of students were chanting traitor during his foul shots.

Miles is coming back confirmed from Boals in postgame presser - B-Rod I think is still uncertain if he will transfer or not.

I would love to know more about why Sam Towns hates OU LOL
Maybe he heard that some posters on here used to mistakenly compare him to Kevin Durant and he thought they were being sarcastic? (or was that Springs they thought was the next Durant?)

More correct would have been "Towns is the next Springs"

I'm not sure why he would hate on us other than not getting much chances? Idk. Revenge is best served cold.

His career arc may not have progressed how we all wished, but you can't come away unimpressed by Ben Roderick. Life > Basketball.

GRAFZ is on to something. 1) Great win.. 2) i think there was a solid 6,000 in attendance.. mostly local, which was awesome! 3) good for the guys on senior night........4) after being around the Bricks for a while, IMO Towns had a decent reason for leaving ..I.E. playing time... However it is unprofessional gestures.. I can see how he may have some hostility towards the program.. Who left/came first? him leaving or Gabe entering?

Assuming they all return — good place to be next season with Miles, Hunter, James, and AJB.

BRod being honored makes me feel like he’s gone. That’s how it went with BVP.

I gotta say actual in the house attendance was probably only 4500 maybe 5. It was a good enthusiastic 5, but it was around 5. Plenty of empties below the concourse, so probably 2250-2500 lower and maybe same above but of course much more widely scattered.

Scrolling though BG board and they are voicing Huger May likely be fired / bought out at the end of this year. First time a Bobcat win is responsible for a BGSUCKS coach firing since Dakich?

I'm also for turning the starting lineup keys over to AJ Brown and Elmore James together.
Really? Those two vs Kent on Tuesday: Combined minutes played = 40 (James 25/Brown 15) They get ONE defensive rebound (Brown).

Baker plays 19 minutes and he pulls down 4 rebounds, ONE is on offense.

And this lack of keeping the ball out of opponents hands or getting second chances is not a one game thing.

In each of their last ten games the two freshman total 45 rebounds in 407 minutes compared to Baker's 134 minutes producing 23 rebounds over his last 10 games. Dividing the rebounds by minutes Baker is 55% better at rebounding then the other two.

You don't rebound, you don't win championships. Love that they are Bobcats but expect more from each. They both have lots of work in improvement before they get the keys to next year's car.
Amen. I'd add DEFENSE AND REBOUNDING win championships.

Well and 3 point shooting and FT win NCAA games assuming you do the above.

Neither EJ4 or AJB have shown much on the defense and rebounding areas. You see how dynamic they can be on offense for sure, but this ain't HS anymore and neither is good enough to just out-score people.

Improvement needed all around.
Quick question: when was the last time we a freshman guard who was really good at defense and rebounding? That stuff doesn't grow on trees. The only ones I can think of are DJ and Sonny Troutman. These guys will be fine.

Russel and Rob said, "Solid 8,000," which I think was a bit high. Your estimate of 4,500 to 5,000 appears a bit low to me. My own estimate was 7,500. It was by far the best week day crowd of the year (at least in games I attended) and was close to some of the better crowds on weekends this year. From where I was sitting, looking toward the student section, the lower bowl was as full as I've seen it for a while. The lower bowl on my side had more empties, that's may be the angle you had, DFC.

I guess we won't know for sure how many were in the house until Al Swank weighs in with his "real estimate" and the higher "Tom Boeh estimate."

With the current landscape of CBB and the portal, it's probably safe to assume there will be unexpected turnover we haven't considered.

As we've learned, that goes both ways. It seems likely we will be adding portal guys every year to replace portal loses or bolster the roster.
No question about it. Only a question of how many and who.

8000 is way off, that much I can be sure of. Remember, below the concourse, if every seat is full, is 3000. Less than 1/4 of capacity. 10000 seats are above the concourse. That means, with the empties below (lets say 2500, that means 5500 above. That means more than half full above the concourse. Not even close. 8000 is just not a realistic guess.

...deep thoughts, but unfortunately the name " of the game." nowadays.. IMO programs can either progress or regress during the offseason. In house decisions and what happens in the locker room/behind closed doors has a lot to do with it. It sure is a good sign if Miles sticks around!
