Did not get to watch or listen to the game today. Stats showed he hardly played.

Only saw the second half, but he got into foul trouble. At least one of the calls was questionable. He seemed out of sync most of the game, which is not all that unusual for him. But, I’m still one of the minority that thinks he can be positive factor next year with “coaching up” and time in the weight room.

11 minutes....5 fouls.

For every baby step he makes.....The Whiz takes 5 steps back. Still not feeling positive that he can turn the corner next year. I give you guys credit for staying optimistic about him moving forward. Project big is an understatement.

I am getting a kick out of Russ calling him "The Whiz" now during games.

Unless we get a portal big we are left with Wiz and Ezuma. Hoping IJ can be that guy but out a whole year after a ho hum frosh year has me doubting.

Our starting center for next season is definitely coming from the portal. Boals knows he can’t rely on the two guys that he has on his roster currently. One guy hasn’t played for two years and the other guy is a project. Heck, you can argue both are projects.

There's going to be several really good juco bigs available... one is an international guy. I won't post highlights again, that has already been done...but with the current momentum, Boal should be able to get one.

As far as a more traditional transfer, the big guy at Austin Peay is a physical specimen on an otherwise crappy team. There hasn't been much player development considering how highly regarded he was in high school.

Can we talk about your insistence to call him "whiz" instead of "Wiz?" His name has no H.

He was really bad on Saturday. An out of control baby giraffe running up and down the court. Hoped for better after a decent last couple games.

It was a typo from the beginning on my part and now it just stuck and is habit. Really thought he turned a small corner during the Akron game. But now his play is back to where it was all season. As I said in other posts, if Boals brings the Whiz back…the program needs to invest in a summer long big man camp for him. The moving screens are unreal. He has to lead the country in moving screens. Let’s hope the Whiz finds lightning in a bottle come March.

It's wishlist...unless his name shows up in the portal. APSU won't be in a post-season anything. The world should know soon if he is bolting.

For a guy who was OVC freshman of the year over anybody from Belmont or Murray at the time, was rated 4-stars by ESPN in h.s. - he is not near what he could be.

There is a catch, Clarksville TN is finishing up a new "downtown" arena that APSU will be moving home games to. Will that make a difference? Not sure.

Intentionally spelling someone's name wrong- including abbreviations- is disrespectful. He doesn't deserve it. I know he hasn't set the world on fire, but there's no indication he isn't a good teammate or playing hard. Insult the other guys, not ours.

We're two years removed from upsetting the National Champion in the NCAA Tournament.

We need a higher bar than just being a good teammate or playing hard. Anyone in the dorms can do that.

Here’s a week old article on the portal. If this kid is transferring, sounds like most people already know on the back channels:

“Mid-major assistant coach No. 1: “The transfer portal doesn’t really populate until after the season, which conflicts with the late signing period. So if we sign someone early, we are saying they are a higher priority than the unknown that will be around in the spring. Committing (to) early signing periods puts you against your peers because we don’t know who’s really going to put their name in the portal. Usually, around late November and early December, we are already getting tips on kids who will be in the portal after the season, so we save room for them and others. Schools are usually signing one or two high school/juco kids at most in the early period, then waiting to see what the portal brings.””

I don't think we have to have a "big guy" that is the typical post guy. I would take 100 Josh Mballas over most guys. Freeman is a freak at Akron and is listed as 6-7. Let's get away from thinking we have to have these monster big guys. Unless you're Belmont or Gonzaga where you have an offense with one big and 4 shooters, then you can get away with a 6-8 guy who can leap out of the building. I would much prefer that with the guys we will have next year. AJ Brown, Elmore James, Miles Brown, Jaylin Hunter -- holy crap will those guys love running with an Ali Ali or an Enrique Freeman or a Josh Mballa. I think Ezuma will be that guy someday but we need an athletic big with experience first. And don't come around here with Euro guys.

European big guys? Like a certain five-time NBA All-Star, he has been named to the All-NBA Team on four occasions, and won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons?

Pretty sure he's from Serbia.

+1. I’ve said in other threads a 6’6/6’7 guy/guys who play “big” will work just fine. A Jon Smith and/or Demetrius Treadwell type - who I hated playing but would have loved to have had, are examples.
