Our record against teams that made the NCAA last year should provide the bona fides that Giacomo wants.  What was it last year?  I know that it was at least 2-1.
4-2 (Lamar, Louisville, UNC-Asheville).

And the two losses were OT in the Sweet Sixteen and a game we led at Louisville with about 4 minutes to go.  But we have no carryover credibility?

Not unless we schedule every NCAA tournament team, every team on the tournament bubble, the quarterfinalists for the NIT, and the Euroleague champions. Only then are we worthy.

I do not believe our football team is one of the best 25 teams in college football.  I believe our basketball teams is one of the best 25 teams in college basketball.  In fact, I have us very very very high.

Based on last year and everyone coming back, we do deserve to be ranked. I've just been giving you reasonable reasons why we did not get ranked. I've also been saying what it may take, in my humble opinion, to get mentioned in that group of teams that get consistenly ranked.

giacomo, let's go the other way.  If returning almost everyone after losing in OT in Sweet does not get us ranked to start the year, then you tell me what it's going to take to start the year ranked.

I 'll bite...several years of sustained excellence and coaching stability.. members of the press have lots of great attributes, especially those like LoPresti who do the homework and have great knowledge of the past and  respect for the  history and tradition but many of them are just writing it in and following the pack mentality.

Getting ranked and staying ranked are two different things. Look at football. One loss tosses them out, even though it's the only loss so far. Even if we had a tougher schedule early and won some or all of those games against higher rated conferences, once we get in the MAC and lose a few games, we're knocked out.
