Confused as to what the decent-sized name program is coming to the Convo, surely they aren't referring to Winthrop/Richmond/Wofford.

Great schedule in my opinion.  We are challenging ourselves on the road with games at Memphis, Oklahoma (winable game against BCS school), UMass and still have 19 home games.  Give the fans a chance to see a lot of basketball while playing some games that will garner attention.  Also love that we play three Atlantic 10 schools.  Come tournament time, wins over 2 or all three of those teams will factor well into seeding or at-large bid hopes.

That's a lot of home games to start the year.

I know people wanted big conference, big name schools, but almost every school on our schedule is a quality program that has been in the NCAA tournament in the last year or two.

Richmond made the Sweet 16 just two years ago and St. Bonaventure was very good last year.

Unfortunately they both lost the NBA level star player that took them there, so who knows how they will be this year.

Ohio University vs. the University of Oklahoma on Dec. 29th!!

Cue Eminem:
"May I have your attention please?
Will the real OU please stand up?
I repeat, will the real OU please stand up?
We're gonna have a problem here..?"

+1.

My first impression of this schedule is good.  Almost every team is a good team in their respective conferences.

Using last year's final RPI, here's a comparison of this year's OOC vs last year's OOC, with this year's teams in bold.

014- @Louisville
016- @Memphis
044- Marshall
044- @Marshall
072- @N Iowa
073- St. Bonaventure
077- @UMass

100- @Robert Morris
100- Robert Morris
108- Lamar
126- Richmond
139- @Oklahoma
141- Oakland
141- @Oakland
177- Wofford

213- NC Wilmington
221- Arkansas St.
226- @Wright State
238- Portland
238- @Portland
271- Winthrop
282- NC A&T
287- Morgan St.

306- Hampton
319- MD Eastern Shore
326- Tenn-Martin
330- Kennesaw St.

avg RPI 2011- 187
avg RPI 2012- 160

Overall, a good schedule, given our dangerous reputation. December looks to have a lot of exciting match ups. Its a shame we got stuck with a couple of 300s, they cost us 25pts on the avg.

I noticed Marshall game is on January 5th. Now that OU has switched to semesters will students be on campus?

I do like the schedule.

Wasn't Bobby Mo last year a game in which we got just hammered on the boards but killed them on turnovers, leading to a quite close game in which we just couldn't get ahead and, so, lost.  Sorta shades of the UNC game in the tourney.  If we get on the boards, we cOUld be tOUgh.

Good schedule.

More challanging schedule, but its not overkill. Farthest west game is Oklahoma, farthest south game is Memphis. Most eastern game is Massachusetts. Not terrible travel with the road slate plus the large number of home games. This is a good schedule for student athletes. A lot of teams fly their teams from Hawaii to the Bahamas, up and down, east and west. This is a fair schedule for the student athletes. Its also gives the students and fans 19 games to watch the team at the Convo.

I think this is a step up.  The RPIs are maybe a bit better, and the low-major teams at least have name recognition for the fans.  Still wondering why we're not in a November tourney, though.  BGSUcks (16-16) gets the preseason NIT and the MAC champ, Sweet 16 team gets none?

Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Memphis, Umass, Oklahoma, Marshall.

That's about as tough a schedule as Ohio plays.  No?

I hope folks stay on the bandwagon after we lose a few of those.

Yes. We turned the Colonials over 41.6% of the time but allowed them to get back 55% of their misses. That could have been overcome if we were able to score, but we weren't. We had one of our worst offensive showings of the season, shooting 35% from the field and 12% from three.

To bad we couldn't get UMASS at home this year.  That could be a nice road win for us, definitely won't be easy if we aren't playing like I hope we are though..

Great schedule.  The only hiccup I see is the Miami game at home.  That's during spring break.

Thanks for the detail work on the stats, JSF.  That 41.6% and that 55% have got to be very unusual numbers.  Gotta think turning the over side over that often means that you win almost every time.  And that getting 55% of your misses means that you win almost every time.

The turnover rate of 41.6% is absurd and you can go seasons without reaching that number again. Giving up 55% of defensive rebounds is not good either and more common. Hard to win that way, though.

I've been waiting for 1/12/13 for two years now, or as I like to call it "the away game I can walk to!"

Away game at BG.  Don't know why that's been such a tough one for us.  Got to get it.

(Not So) Fun Fact: John Groce did not win a single game at Bowling Green during his entire time with Ohio. I'm hoping Jim Christian can change this.

I'm personally a fan of the schedule next season. Nice balance of some good name teams that are beatable with definitely winnable games. It will be a fun and exciting season, I think. I'm just excited to drive a couple hours west to go to the Memphis game and watch OUr boys put a thumpin' on the Tigers!
