How many BBall players continuing w/professional careers vs FBall - how about that as a measure of which type of "school" OHIO is? (tip of hat to Borna's updates)

The professional opportunities for basketballers is about 100 times greater than footballers.

And we have, what, 500 to 1000 times more professional BBall players?

EDIT: Well, not exactly sure what Couple Dozen over the last 2 decades is vs "Hardly Any". Maybe not "1000 times" - but is certainly "boatloads, Sh..ton, He..of a lot more, Massive Difference" than FBall.

I'm not really into the original post as a worthwhile discussion - but on the merits - 20 home games BBall are 3 times the opportunity for "input/at put/any put" experiences - fans, local economy, OHIO exposure, etc., etc.

How many "Mid Majors" are known more as BBall schools vs FBall schools? It's pretty simple what the best opportunity for a smaller market school to maximize is - and we have done that pretty darn well. I don't see any "Expand the Convo" (and thus required Massive $'s needed to do) threads on here..................

I LOVE what is happening on the FBall front here - but there is a long way to go before this is a really relevant discussion (unless some anonymous or here-to-fore not conspicuous wealthy alum decides to pony up some ridiculous huge contribution for Peden renovation, ongoing fund that supports Solich replacement salary support, in a few years, etc, etc., etc.). Not to mention the absolute pathetic reality of non-commitment of most of the MAC FBall programs..............

Once again...you can't just compare straight numbers...Football is way more popular than Basketball in America...to compare attendance figures or post counts on message boards are not good measures on whether a school is a football school or basketball school.

Andrew--Sure you can compare numbers...espec if the issue is 'does Ohio consider itself a foot or basket school',,,,  less so if the issue is 'how does the nation regard Ohio, foot or basket?'  Either way, how we feel about ourselves, as somewhat reflected in the # of posts for each sport, is somewhat relevant.

Here is a thought.  How about considering Ohio-"a Athletic School".  That way this debate is over with.

Unbelievable that football is getting close to .500 all-time. That would have been crazy talk not too long ago!

Preview missed talking about Green. The added depth in the front court will only help in conference play...I'm excited for the season!

In their Pre-Season All Conference team they pick DJ as their POY,  Offutt 2nd team and Ivo 3rd.  In an unlikely prediction they have Jim Christian as their COY.  All I have to say is I hope they are right because it would take a hell of a team for him to get the honor.

In their pre-season bracketology, they have us as a #10 seed, playing #7 seeded Texas.

8/9 seeds are the worst. I'd rather be insultingly underseeded.

Agreed.  An #11 seed is where it's at.
