It's somewhat hard to have a GameWatch for games that... aren't on TV.

That might further the point. Better opponents are more likely to get on the tube.

Let's face it. O.U. does not get to the next level unless they are playing teams at the next level. If you want to get into the party, you better have a pretty lady on your arm. O.U. will never get to the next level by playing a weaker out of conference schedule, and then, what many consider to be, a weaker conference schedule. At some point in the season you need to play teams from the next level. Memphis and Oklahoma are okay starts, but I agree that with the team they had returning this year, and with the experience they gained last year, now was a golden opportunity to play some of the bigger schools, even if away, and perhaps on a neutral court, to highlight the program to a national audience.

The problem is scheduling takes place years in advance, and the powers-that-be had no way of knowing that we would be returning an entire Sweet-16 team.

Everyone saw what we did last year in the tournament.  Everyone knows we brought back everyone from that team.  Its been written about plenty.

So if your an AD and your putting your schedule together at a big school that is all about "Where are we ranked?" you would not want anything to do with a mid-major team like Ohio.   Could be bad for business.....now if Ohio has a great season and great record it could be looked at as one of those 'quality losses' we hear about from time to time.  But a big school AD can't take that chance.

I could care less about being ranked in the top #25.  Sure it looks great when everyone posts their phone on facebook showing #25 Ohio or what ever we get, but I'm a history guy...... when Ohio as a school gets ranked....we begin to go downhill.

Lets see a regular season championship and then a MAC Championship and see our Seed in the tourney...let that Seed be your goal.

Go Cats!

http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/8683450/jay-bilas-ranks-nation-top-68-teams-college-basketball

Jay Bilas begrudgingly moved us up 14 spots to #39.in his Big 6 knobbing list.   Even more surprising is that he has Akron now in the list (#66) at 3-2.  Which leads me to ask, what did they do with the real Jay Bilas

What's it take to get UCLA off the poll?

They would need to join the MAC.

. . .   It's common knowledge that they tried to schedule up this year, and nobody wanted to play us.

It is?  First I've heard of it.  When JC was hired most the schedule had been set.  I don't think he was able to have much input into the schedule for this year.  I expect next year we'll see a different scheduling philosophy put into place.  As JSF pointed out BGSU's getting a big name in their high-school sized gym.  If they can schedule up, OHIO certainly can do it, too.  Heck, even TOS got Wisconsin and Rhode Island (when they were very good) in the house.

Not necessarily. Many top tier teams are wussies when it comes to scheduling away games. They will only schedule either, what they perceive to be gimmie games that they are pretty sure they can win or other top tier teams away to minimize the effects of a loss. BG is not and hasn't been a MAC powerhouse for many years. Plus that small gym they have keeps the "home court" feel to a minimum. So an @BG game is perceived to be a gimmie in their eyes.

On the otherhand, Ohio has always been a strong MAC team and they have a top notch arena. Many of the top tier teams won't schedule an away game at our place because they know the game isn't a gimmie and would be tough and could be a potential loss, which wouldn't do them any good come selection time.
