THat is crazy.

NOt since the ill fated EMU /Toodledeedoo weekend last year has Ivo been to the stripe.

Used to drive me crazy watching how deep he had the ball in the palm of his hand on FT's and the resultant flat off the back rim clang.  ....now he just does not get to the line. That is a remarkable stat. Not sure how you challenge a player to turn that one around. He is quick off the first step. Saw that in the second half of one of the games this year where he was on the left wing and put the ballon the deck and went right down the middle finishing at the rim while blowing by 2 defenders. Not sure how that has gone by the coaching staffs for that many games.

Someone has to track down the NCAA record for consecutive minutes played without a FT attempt...or more FG attempts without a FT attempt.  He has to be nearing it.

Borna almost has it right but Ivo went 1 for 2 from the line at Buffalo on 2/22/12 after the 2/8 Toledo game in which he was 0-2.  He was 0-0 in the 3 games prior to Buffalo.  So he has not been to the line in his past 16 games and in his past TWENTY GAMES he is 1 for 2.  As others pointed out that is a mind-boggling stat for a starter averaging 25+ minutes per game over that span.

Let's get the tigers.

Per ESPN's stats, it looks like Ivo has at least 139 FG attempts without a FT attempt.  That is amazing.  You would think that on one of those shots he would have been fouled, even on accident.

Yep, DJ has a sketchy shot selection at times. He gets that eye of the tiger look and he's going to shoot whether it's a good idea or not. It's frustrating as hell at times.

That being said an argument can be made that he is the best player to ever wear a Bobcat uniform.  We've got a lot of good players around him but he is the main reason we are going to set all kinds of wins records during his four year tenure.  I liken DJ to Brett Favre when he was in his prime.  The positive so ovewhelms the negative that you just accept it as part of the package.

nice work, Iwas togg;ing results back and forth while working

anyone care to try and figure out his productivity per game or per minute or per fg prior to the current drought?

Not to mention the chance of non-shooting fouls or even off the ball fouls when in the bonus.  Somebody has to get this stat to an ESPN writer or something.

I sent an e-mail to Ken Pomeroy asking how unusual this is. I know he has play-by-play from the last several seasons. But I know he's busy and I'm not expecting a reply.

Two thoughts:

1.  I don't know how many times DJ has taken a shot and I've said "NO NO NO" -- "YES YES YES."  I don't think DJ's shot selection is the major problem this team has at this time.

2.  That Ivo no-free throw stat is just incredible.

How can you get fouled taking 17 foot fade away shots when you are 6'8" (or whatever)!

I got a response but no help with the question. Will try the guys at APBR.

Hey Ted,

I don't have that data handy, but that's an amazing streak in a hilarious way. Especially considering how many two-pointers the guy attempts.

We discussed this very subject last year when he shot at a horrid rate, like 28%.
If you look at his 1st 5 games this year he was at a 39% rate. I'll take that any day cause that's the equivalent of 60% from the 2 range.
His last 2 games were horrid again, something like 23%. Now if this continues coach needs to reel him in.
I would love to see the kid improve his game this year cause I would have to say that he did not improve from his sophomore to junior year.

Ivo shooting MORE from outside the paint, or outside of 8 feet or so, will be a clear indication that OUr offense is disintegrating - period. We need the inside threat and position aggressiveness to open up Kellog, Wilkens, Hall from the 3 pt line (and DJ/Stevie from less than mid court). Maybe even get an added FT, or dozen a game. Put some foul pressure on opponents bigs too. We have depth (more soon) inside - USE IT. If not pretty soon We're gonna have to chuck those realty company little red basketballs (God I hate those RED basketballs - and the RED shirts they wear) from the stands to get some open shots from the "outside".................
