Alright - starting this one off and being positive.  OUr guys are going to come back home and play really well Saturday.  I'm bringing two buddies who have never been to Athens at all on Saturday, so I'm hoping for a nice showing from JC's crew so they'll want to come back for more games.

This team is no slouch as it was very competitive at Pitt and at Boise State.

Definitely much better than their record. Oakland has played only one home game. Travis Bader has hit 27 3-pointers. Takes on average 10 per game.

Bader can be trouble.  Too many open 3s by RMU and Memphis killed us.  Going to have to be a lot quicker defending the passes to the perimeter.

Will the video feed be less claymation-like this week?

I remember two years ago, Keith Benson was dominant in the paint for them, but he was a senior that year. Do they have any guys this year that could impose their will on our bigs the way Benson did?

They have a message board on pro boards, but you have to be a member to view it I believe. Not the most active board either.

This one is a must-win if we want any chance at an at-large bid in the NCAA Tourny, though I know a lot of people on here think that is already out of the question.

Any consideration of an at-large at this point in time is really not realistic.  OUr guys are going to need to either go to UMass or Oklahoma and get a "signature" win for that to be anywhere close to possible in my opinion.  Gotta be able to win away from home, and they haven't shown they can do that yet.  But I'm getting ahead of things - gotta win these next two games at home first!

I can't believe we continue even talking about this.  It drives me crazy pre-season, during the season and post season!  We have to talk rankings, bla, bla, bla!  Why can't we just let the marbles fall as they will and not worry about all this?  It all worked out well in football, huh!

Rankings in football and an at large bid in basketball are two different things. Also, i thought that is what a chat board was for, to talk about scenarios for our team lol. This basketball team has proven a LOT more than our football team IMO.

Let's face it the MAC does not get at large bids period.
We win the MAC Tournament and we are in. End of discussion.

It doesn't have to do with conference, it has to do with teams. The MAC could be a 5 bid league if there were 5 real good teams.

1999 was the last time the MAC got two bids. In my 23 seasons of following the MAC closely, it has been a two-bid conference only a few times, all of which occurred before this century. This year will extend that streak. Fortunately for us, the team just has to play well for a few days in Mid-March. The regular season is just for entertainment purposes because it really doesn't mean much except for seeding before Cleveland.

Umm, they have a 6'10'' guy, Corey Petros, who ate us for lunch last year.

That's because we suck against taller players no matter their skill level. He isn't that great of a player

He's shooting 63% from the field, draws a ton of fouls, and has a very good ORtg. I don't know why you don't think he's very good.

Once again one player on the other team is single handily killing the Bobcats. Oakland isn't very good but Ohio lacks energy, effort and any desire out there.

Very impressed with the poise they showed today.  After the last two games, they could've tanked easily when Oakland fought back to take the lead.  Wilkins's 3s were huge.  Loved the inside play by Offutt today; showed muscle that's been missing inside.  Glad Keely got back in the groove.  And it was good to see Baltic shake a little of the funk off in the second half, although I'm not sure why they had him out beyond the perimeter; trying to make a Larry Bird of him?

Oakland came up as a one or two-player team today.  Although Bader shot lights out today, we held everybody else on the team except one (Carter) to way under their averages.  Bader had 27 of their first 47 points, but only 2 of their last 14.  When we shut him down and guarded against the back-door stuff, it was pretty much over.

Big props to Ric for fighting through screens and getting up in Bader to slow him down. Oaklands are pretty good at running him off screens. we need to get that figured out

This was a fun college basketball game to watch and it was a total team win. Everyone in the rotation had meaningful contributions, even Jon who battled foul trouble all game. The bench came through in a big way. Great adjustment to put Ricardo on Bader in the second half - had him blanketed the rest of the game.
