L'ville beat Fiami 80-39, but Akron used a big 2nd half to smother Penn St 85-60, and WMU beat USF 58-53.  Kent lost to Valpo at home 88-83 in OT and EMU beat Tx Pan Am 57-47.

while I certainly agree about the Lake Erie result not looking good one correction. Lake Erie is a d2 school in the mighty GLIAC.

Who knows, Penn State and South Florida may not be that good, but those are nice wins in terms of beating high major conference teams.  Good for the MAC.

Why knock Akron for playing John Carroll when we played Marietta last year? Same league.

You don't knock Akron for playing John Carroll.  We knock Akron for being Akron.

Akron used to schedule games like that left and right, and through their scheduling has improved as of late they still are good for at least one annually (they played freaking Hiram last year, Malone before that, and so on)

point taken, thank you for the correction.  Actually I'm surprised John Carroll didn't beat them.

4-1 night against D-1 opponents gets MAC back to .500 at 26-26. Kent St. gets MAC's second win over the Big Diluted 10 with a victory over Nee-braska.

Miami appears to be snakebit again. Bill Edwards hurt his knee early in the game yesterday and it may be serious. I believe they are going to do an MRI today or tomorrow to determine severity.   The bright side is that they have a really good frosh in Reggie Johnson.  The Redhawks picked up their first OOC road win over a D-1 team since 2008.

Cooper said there wasn't much swelling, so he was optimistic.
