Bobcat Love's Sense of Shame wrote:expand_more
Many (though not all) of the people insisting that Sears should have handled his departure with more class handled Sears' departure with very little class themselves.

People here criticized his Mom publicly. They said he didn't care about education or family. They said he only cared about money. Called him Jaaron Simmons 2.0.

Out of one side of their mouths, they insisted that Sears show OU loyalty, and then out of the other, criticized his game and started actively rooting against his success wherever he ended up.

Notably, most of those criticisms began before Sears made his choice or announcement, so the "he didn't handle his decision with class" is a retroactive justification.
They don't call this site BobcatAttack for nothing.😆

From what I remember of my eons ago logic class at OU, this doesn't fly. Just because fans have a right to express their opinions, that doesn't at all make the opinion that they express fair.

It's news to me that Sears departure was lacking class.

I am rooting big-time for BVP and Sears! Good pub for Ohio.

I root for BVP in his new venue, Sears not so much. Not all departures are equal. BVP earned my respect in his style of play and his commitment to OHIO. Sears was a ball hog, me-first, kind of player and even on days that he excelled it was more about him than the team. The players I like best are those who are all about making their teammates look better -- guys like Preston.

Having had the opportunity to meet them both and have them spend quality time with my kids, I will heartily root for both gentlemen. They handled themselves with such class and were remarkable players. I'm excited to see all that they can get done this year and hopefully at the next level (wherever that may be). I agree that BVP is a truer Bobcat, as he actually holds a degree (or two) from OHIO. With this new world of the portal, my measurement of Bobcat loyalty will be based on the acquisition of a degree before leaving the university. Just my personal benchmark.

On that same mark, how quickly can we retire Preston's jersey now that he came back and got his degree? What an awesome achievement.

The offenses Sears committed described here are vanishingly minor and should not be held against him for more than a day or so. I’ve never heard of him saying anything upsetting nor has anything posted here that’s not mere rumor say anything negative about his character.

BVP was huge last night for a stretch in the 2nd half in UVA's comeback win at Michigan. 7 big points in a flurry to get UVA back in the lead.

4 for 5 from the floor. It has been a dream start for BVP and Virginia. He is shooting the ball better than he ever has. Not having to be the go-to scorer seems to be serving him very well. Hope Virginia keeps this going. They host #1 Houston in a couple weeks.

Sears definitely got the exposure he wanted with the UNC win. I think both BVP and Sears have a good shot to be household names in March. Would be great to upset them.

Sears another great day. 19 points (4 of 7 from 3) 3 assist no turnovers in a win over SD State.

BVP a so-so day in a win against FSU...7 points (3 of 11 shooting) & 4 boards in 27 minutes.

Sam Towns is now starting for Bowling Green, but not super impactful, averaging 6PPG since entering the starting lineup.

Nate Springs is a grad transfer at D2 Winston Salem-State averaging 3.8/3.8 in 13 MPG. He has not played since 11/22

Jalen White is having an up and down year at Nichols State. Averaging 6 PPG and shooting over 50% from three on a small sample size. He did have a 12 point outing at BYU.

Nolan Foster is averaging 3.8 as a backup at D2 Marian in Indiana.

Colin Granger is averaging 1.9 as a backup at Western Carolina. He at least appears to be in the consistent rotation with them.

Rifen Miguel is averaging 3.9/3 as a backup at UT-Martin after transferring from Troy.

Mason McMurray is the leading scorer at NAIA Coastal Georgia (15.4). The team is 2-8.

Marvin Price is average 3.3 PPG off the bench at D2 West Alabama.

That's insane that there are 10! players playing college basketball that were once Bobcats but then moved on to other places. That number is almost mind-boggling.

Not so fast my friend!

Torey James is a teammate of McMurray's at Coastal Georgia, averaging 12.8 PPG.

John Tenerowicz has appeared in two games for Tiffin. They also list him generously as 6'4''

Any word on McDay? Still a lot of unanswered questions there.

Have not heard anything about him since I ran into a classmate that was a coworker with him at one point.

He no longer wants to play basketball. What is unanswered about that? Case of a young person who spent there entire life in travel ball, and playing everyday and found that there are other things he would like to do.

I appreciate the insight as that is more info than anyone has given since he left the program. I was curious if he was still enrolled at Ohio or if he transferred somewhere else to pursue his degree. He was a huge part of Ohio's success for a couple of years. I"m sure a lot of people are curious how he is doing. That's all. Chill. Thank you.

11 points and a good shooting night for Sears as Houston upsets the #1 team in the country.

Cool to see Sears starting on a National Championship contender. Bama has a lottery pick and are deep and athletic.

Sears certainly seems to be holding up quite well on the big stage and under the bright lights.

Sears is very talented and when you have that much talent around you, it only makes you better IMHO.

I thought Mark's late 3 was the biggest bucket of the game. Got the lead and didn't lose it again I don't think? My daughter mentioned he has some of JPs coolness under pressure.
