If Jon was burned out and didn't want to compete anymore and thought it was time for the season to be over, I can understand. If Jon had thought he served his time and wanted to be a normal college student for the rest of the semester....I totally understand. These guys miss out on a good portion of college because they put it all on the line to showcase our school. Could be similar to what some people say happened to TT. Sometimes you just get a little burned out and want to start enjoying life and Athens. It is easy for us to sit back here and judge since we have never been in their shoes....playing at OU back in the day isn't as demanding as it is now.
I do think it is bush league that he gave up on his teammates. That is very selfish, and i fear this one action could tarnish a great reputation.
I think we forget how complex the world is for a student athlete. We think that just cause they get a scholarship, they have it made. Grades, Athletics, Social Life, ETC....that is a ton to have on your plate....pile on the pressure of having throusands of people counting on you. I'm sure someone will post how they were a double major engineer and accounting major who worked 30 hours a week at Wendys. If you fit that mold...congrats, you are a truly a hard worker. Most of us find it easy to judge this guy and sit back and think that we would be different in his shoes. Taking 18 hours as a communication major and getting a 3.3 GPA is about as easy as counting to 10....
