Trivia questions:
1. Who was awarded Athens County's first Medal of Honor? What town is the medal attributed to?
2. What was the name of the man awarded the very first Medal of Honor in the whole nation? What Southeastern Ohio town is he from?
2. Jacob Parrott, from Fairfield. Seen his plaqe on one of my Harley trips across Americana.
Winner, winner, half a chicken dinner! Now, can anyone win the second half of that chicken?
As a hint, here's his picture as a young man shortly after enlisting. More hints: he raised what was to become Company C of the 5th United States Colored Infantry on the Athens County Fairgrounds. He's buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Now all you need is his name and where in Athens County he had been living before enlistment.
