60-56 at the Consol Center Pittsburgh, the Dukes play at Robert Morris sat, I may attend.  Duquesne's former coach Everhart is an asst at WVU.

Saw some highlights of this game last night.  Borna, you can comment on this, but it appeared to me that the renovations to the Palumbo Center make it a decent venue.  Much better than before.  I attended a game there in the Larry Hunter years.  Mostly just bleachers on both sides at that time.

I stood and rebounded for the current manager who has been going to games since he was a lil tyke. He talked about the renovation and how nice it is now comparably. I liked the team shop on the upper deck, concessions are sparse. Practice gym is beautiful as is the weight room , coaches and admin office s and the training area.

I am pretty sure the game last night was down the hill across the street at the big house as the WVU contingent was supposed to be bigger than Palumbo would hold.

Game was down the hill at Consol Energy Center, home to an NCAA round last year and usually the NHL.

      CBSSports, which televised the game, showed a graphic about the arena. The graphic included the tenant (Penguins), capacity, etc. . . Also included two of the most famous artists to have played a concert there: Lady Gaga and Rush. Thought that was kind of funny since I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band there two months ago. Oh well.

Well it depends of course your like and dislikes and preferences.etc. etc. frikkin etc.

I've never seen The boss live....saw Rush in Cincy Gardens  (does it still exist?) and we parked 3 blocks away and heard them 2 blocks away...thought it was the worst concert I ever attended.....but you can blame it on the acoustics.....I've never purchased a Boss CD....have one or 2 of his songs on my i-pod.....have purchased 2 or 3 Rush CD's.

This 64 old fart prefers Rush.....but being a drummer maybe it's Neil Peart.

Continuing on the thread detour - 53 yr old fart here - I saw Rush in appx '76 in Dayton's Hara Arena. Don't remember a thing about it, except that it was LOUD in that tin can (memory lapse likely had Nothing to do w/the music....... )

I do believe Neil Pert is an Incredible drummer - I unfortunately pretty much can't stand that "turn the 45 RPM up to 78 RPM" style of R&R - too much about virtuosity of speed, seemingly for only "speeds sake", w/only occasionally interesting melodic artistry.

Bruce - is simply one of the greatest American popular musical poets of the late 20th century - who also just happened to have one hell of a band! PLUS he even once graced the stage at Swanky's in Athens after a concert - so that qualifies him as indeed Legendary in Athens.................

Roll the Bones was sort of a personal experience for me....the songs hit home.....so Rush means a bunch to me.

At a party in Athens sophomore year (1980) and had an argument with a stranger, who was better, Rush or Springsteen and E St. band. Obviously, a matter of taste. However, he based his argument on the fact that Neil Pertt is better than Max Weinberg based on his much larger drum set. The important things we remember.

Max was never "the show", just solid component of the solid rhythm section. Pert is hands down one of the best drummers ever - any genre of music. If it comes down to a "size" matters argument - then the E Street band wins hands down. More band members, more records recorded and sold by individual band members. Steven Van Zandt was known as "Little", but of course Clarence Clemens was "The Big Man"!

Former 110 son now at grad school at Duquesne plays in the Dukes pep band and gets a thumbs up from Big John whenever the former Bobcats see each other.  Son said there was nothing he's experienced that tops the "City" game held a week ago pitting Duquesne and Pitt.  The Consul Center was jammed with both bands and awesome turnout by both student bodies. 

As for Boss.  If you are a fan of his then you like him lots and I'm okay with that, people have different tastes.  I saw him once at the Coliseum in Richfield and wanted to leave after about three tunes.  He's high energy and gave his fans their money's worth but I hated the whole thing. He has made millions, so he doesn't give a wit for my opinion BUT his music doesn't rate in the top 100 to me.  If I guy cannot produce several good dancing pieces than it is a waste. 

How many of Rush or Springstein songs has the 110 played--that should be the final Bobcat arbitor of who is more likeable.

Chapin NEVER won a Congressional Medal of Honor! That award is the highest award given to our service personnel. He was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal, which is one of the highest awards given to an American Citizen for their contribution to American History or Culture.

You must love Steely Dan too.

Springsteen is #24 on Rolling Stone's top artists (all genres) of all time.  Rush didn't make the list.  I don't think you'll find any objective folks saying Rush > Springsteen.  Nice to see Rush in the hall of fame though.

That Rolling Stone list is fun to wade through if you want to google it.

Boy howdy

I stayed out of this argument as I think both have their place.

I think the boss has touched more lives and been more of a force both musically and socially in defining the American tenor.

I respect JSF for supporting Rush as I am one of the guys who has Fly By Night , A Farewell To Kings and the corporate influenced Vinyl containing Spirit of the Radio stached away to hand down to my 2nd son who ctakes time to listen to music and appreciates the passion.

Glad folks are taking time awayfrom hoops to discuss intelligently and respectfully their stand. Unfortuantel I like both and do not ever prefer to take away from one by making it a contest.

But the lyric  "If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice" rings in my ears on a daily and sometimes minute by minute voice and I must weigh in with Bruce being the greater force both in substance and effect on more folks.
