I'm in, with 2 seats on the baseline.  Don't want to be trampled (or heckled) by students.  Sounds like they're going to have a pre-game "chalk talk" session with a coach prior to every game for those who sit in these seats.  I have a similar benefit through my tickets for the Cleveland Orchestra - meet the conductor beforehand, etc.

Which begs the question - are you as critical of the Cleveland Orchestra 3rd flutist as you are of Ohio University's 3rd string RB?

Only when the flutist in question fumbles his/her instrument in consecutive performances.

There is nothing quite pathetic like a fumbling flutist.

I thought about it and it was tough to justify buying these seats.  I removed logic from the decision and got two.

As far as injuries go, I'd be more concerned about those folks with a power forward in their laps, as close as they are to the court.

Impossible.

The team hasn't had a power forward since Terren Harbut. Just a bunch of three's disguised as fours.

Flutist is the preferred term of professional flutists.

I'll be very interested to see how many of these are sold. It won't look very good to have empty seats at courtside. I had the opportunity to sit down there last year and thought it was OK. But I'll take my regular seats any day.

Having empty seats, and them being unsold are two different things. But they're well over half gone, I don't see them lasting too long.

If for some reason we have a win in the convo worth storming the court for i would not want to be in those seats.

Based on past experience, the bar is set pretty low for this too.  We were the damn favorite in the Geo. Mason game, yet since they were really good 2 years before that, everyone found their way to center court.

Maybe these seats in the way will result in the court only being stormed when it actually makes sense.

Much like Miami last time, it had nothing to do with what they did two years ago and everything to do with the come-from-behind Bubba-special against Mason (at least for me).

Looks like the center court seats will have a table in front of them.

I predict the same kind of, "would you keep it down back there, and sit down!  Get off my lawn!" type of discourse as we hear about in the tower club.

That's pathetic if it happens. There are tables in front of student sections at arenas all over the country.

The O zone is our home field advantage. We should in no way do anything that might impede on the section. Dont know if it will effect anything at all, but you never know.

I agree, but I doubt this will have much effect, if any. I would like to think people that sit over there know what they're getting themselves into. And they're not going to win an argument over noise if they choose to start one.

While I totally agree the idea is one of the most absurd things *I* think this U has had in years, taking away the Ozone and it's relationship withthe players (while I truly support Love's view that the Ozone is marginally above pathetic at times and continues to become a non entitiy with attrition) is atrocious, it should be noted that those students behind the broadcast table in the centre compete for the space behind the announcers.

If we really had a strong Ozone that was relevant this would be a non issue....NO ONE would want to sit in front of it. IU found that out the hard way when they tried to move the blue hairs down in front of the students to increase revenue

Interesting that OUr students/alumni actually use affect and effect in a way that is so commonly butchered in forums across this good land.

I'm really surprised there is enough room on that side for an advertising banner board, table, seats and the walkway. Plus you've got to give a few feet between the banner and sideline. Much wider than I would have thought.

I bought two on the side of the court in front to the Ozone.  I will be more into the game than the cheerleaders are.  Also, I will bring my solid hoops IQ so our cheering will be when it's supposed to be.  I will not, however, stand silently for defense at the beginning of each half.  That is a ridiculous, manufactured effort that should never be referred to as a tradition.

If I were in the Ozone, I would prefer the Black seats over the cheerleaders in that area.  The cheerleaders were just in the way.  The new seats take nothing away from the atmosphere.

You're not supposed to stand silently.

Ditto on the "cheer", "leaders"........

And the silly ranting from the announcer about the standing for defense - if it needs that kinda goofball prompting - then maybe it's just not our bag (at the moment anyway). Reminds me of the silly PA prompts to get loud at football games when we have the ball on 3rd downs - WTF?

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this:  Why are these seats being done?
