Just another reason to get out of the MAC and leave the company we now keep. The MAC overall is not helping OUr team in basketball or football...not that there haven't been times that we were the hinderance!
Yeah if we stay in the MAC much longer we will run out of space to hang all those MAC Championship banners we've been collecting.

I agree. We've made a commitment to take the next step but the vast majority of the MAC isn't willing to make the commitment.  The sad thing is that Miami has clearly decided they aren't going to make the effort.  If we leave they won't be coming with us.

Seems to me the new mark should really be 24-25 wins to show a program's excellence.  If you play 30-31 games before the postseason, that's a 24-7 record at worst prior to tournament time.  20 seems to have been the magic number back when 26-28 games were played.

Exactly.  20 wins in a 31-game schedule is a .645 percentage, which translated to about 17 wins when teams played 27 regular season games.  Teams now need to win at least 23 games to get a comparable percentage to what 20 had back then.  I think 20 wins is an admirable goal, but it ain't as impressive as it used to be.

Sorry but anyone who thinks we have a chance at an at-large is just kidding themselves.

Even if we win out and lose the MAC championship game, our loses have been way too devastating to even be considered. Loss AT HOME to Winthrop and we got embarrased by, what is turning out to be, an average Memphis team and convincing losses to Oklahoma and UMASS.

MAC teams have been routinely passed over with far better resumes over the years. When you are in the 15/16th best conference, records don't mean much if you can't back it up with quality OOC wins.

I mean I agree with you that we don't have an at-large chance, but how do you figure that Memphis is "turning out to be average"? They are 22-3 and haven't lost since December 15th.

Honestly, a better approach at this point might be pushing for the MAC to "require" some minium thresholds for investment in the two biggest money sports for ALL schools (I know, some have hockey).  And to require some kind of action to boost the schedule, attendance, etc.  There are just a few bad eggs in each sport that cause the problems.  For hoops, we're talking NIU, EMU, CMU, and right now, Ball State, Miami & BGSU.  EMU at least on the court isn't horrible for the RPI, but they're a clear bad mark with all the empty seats.

I'd shrink to 10.  You say a few bad apples and then name 6 of 12 schools which is 50%.  Just based on b-ball and f-ball attendance, seems to me someone would address EMU.  That would leave one more problem child to "ask" to leave.  I'm open to any suggestions

Alright true, but then again look at who they played(the pollsters seem to think the same way as they are only 21st with that record).
